The mission of the Local Procurement Representative is to act as a liaison between procurement and operations. They support supply chain activities and contribute to progress targets while fostering a high Service Level for Operations & Support Functions. This role provides guidance to Airgas Operations Support to advance safety, efficiency, and savings initiatives through competitive bidding, proposal analysis, and vendor relationship management. Responsible for administration including personnel development, reporting, and strategic planning

  • Strategic Alignment: Partner with Airgas leaders to align procurement strategies with business goals and optimize collective purchasing power.

  • Operational Excellence: Develop long-range objectives to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and value creation for internal and external customers.

  • Change Management: Promote continuous improvement and digital procurement technologies to enhance supply chain effectiveness.

  • End-to-End Sourcing: Lead competitive bidding, proposal analysis, contract negotiations (price/commercial terms), and asset sales.

  • Project Coordination: Proactively manage sourcing for major capital projects, maintenance, and plant turnarounds (TAR).

  • Data Analytics: Study financial and productivity reports to identify cost-saving opportunities and expense reductions.

  • Performance Metrics: Develop and maintain metrics and balanced scorecards to track Operations Support success.

  • Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the bridge between field operations, category management, and strategic sourcing teams.

  • Team Development & Talent Management

  • Leadership: Plan recruitment, resource allocation, and succession pathing for the Operations Support team.

  • Coaching: Provide training, skills development, and performance counseling to drive professional growth.

  • Culture: Foster a collaborative, purpose-driven team environment focused on supportive leadership and innovation.

  • Supplier Management: Develop regional framework agreements and contribute to the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program.

  • Daily Support: Facilitate spot buys, urgent procurement needs, and local purchasing while nurturing supplier relationships.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma: Bachelor’s degree in the field of specialization or equivalent

  • 2 years of experience in supply chain management, operations, sales, or purchasing services.

  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, supportive leadership, and collaborative problem-solving capabilities.
