Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
A fantastic opportunity has presented itself for a Field Services Capability and Development Lead reporting to the Executive Manager, Field Training and Knowledge.
A bit about your role
As the Field Services Capability and Development Lead, you will guide the transformation of how capability is built across nbn’s Field Services workforce. Stepping into a time of meaningful change, you will help shift our learning ecosystem from traditional classroom models to a modern, blended and competency‑based approach that supports job readiness, lifts operational performance, and strengthens alignment with nbn’s strategic priorities and technical standards.
In this role, you will shape the design and evolution of role‑specific learning pathways, competency frameworks and blended learning experiences that span HFC, Fixed Line, Satellite, FTTP and other key technologies. You will ensure these solutions set clear expectations, embed consistent assessment practices, and enable a skilled, confident and future‑ready workforce. Your work will bring clarity to evolving capability needs, supporting both internal and contracted technicians to learn, grow and contribute with confidence.
Working closely with business leaders, technical specialists and delivery partners, you will co‑design practical, scalable learning experiences that reflect the realities of field work. You will also support the uplift of digital learning content, champion the use of adaptive learning tools, promote continuous improvement, and help embed minimum training standards across the organisation. Through your collaborative approach, you will nurture strong relationships, helping the field community embrace change and adopt new ways of learning that enhance safety, quality, and operational excellence.
A bit about you
If this sounds like the role for you, you will likely bring experience in learning and development, with a strong grounding in adult learning principles, instructional design, and competency‑based training. You feel confident designing blended learning experiences and working closely with operational teams, field technicians and contracted workforces to ensure capability solutions are practical, relevant and effective.
You will also be comfortable creating engaging digital learning content and have hands‑on experience with eLearning authoring tools, particularly Articulate 360. You enjoy crafting digital experiences that are accessible, intuitive and aligned to learner needs, and you take pride in bringing complex technical concepts to life in ways that help people feel supported and ready to succeed.
You may have experience engaging with technically complex environments—ideally telecommunications or related industries—and you enjoy translating technical requirements into clear, purposeful learning pathways. You collaborate with openness and warmth, building trusted relationships that help teams move through change with confidence and clarity.
You are thoughtful and adaptive, with strong communication skills and a natural desire to support others through growth. Your commitment to continuous improvement, curiosity and care helps you identify capability needs early and respond with balanced, forward‑thinking solutions. Above all, you are motivated by uplifting others and strengthening capability across the field workforce in a way that supports nbn’s purpose and the communities we serve.
