Location:

This position will travel between sites in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  Relocation assistance will not be provided.

As a Field Service Engineer III, you'll provide expert installation, maintenance, and repair services for sophisticated analytical and microscopy equipment. Working with advanced technology, you'll deliver outstanding technical support while building strong relationships with customers across research institutions, universities, and industrial facilities. You'll resolve complex issues, conduct preventive maintenance, and train users to ensure optimal system performance. What you will do:

  • Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of Liquid Chromatography, Charged Aerosol Detectors, Mass Spectrometry, and other instruments. 
  • Use customer management software to track service calls, manage parts inventories, and complete job tasks.
  • Review reports and documentation from customers, and inspect malfunctioning products to determine nature and scope of problem.
  • Analyze, review, and inspect findings to determine source of problem, and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
  • Analyze chemistry and instrument reports in the process of diagnosing technical or application problems.
  • Client-focused, working in conjunction with other Unity Lab Services teams and Sales to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
  • Develop and conduct training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrate skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

How will you get here?

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry or related technical field
 

Experience:

  • 5+ years hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and calibrating sophisticated analytical instruments.
  • Demonstrated expertise with ultra-high vacuum systems, high voltage electronics, and complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities for hardware and software issues.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills and establishing good customer rapport are essential.
  • Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation.
  • Must be available to travel overnight up to 50% within the territory or other areas as required.  Possibly more for training and initial certifications.  Ongoing technical training and certifications will be required.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. with assistance and work in laboratory environments.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stretch, and reach daily in a service function.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license in the state you reside and a safe driving record.
  • Follow all safety protocols and be able to work in cleanroom environments when required.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New Jersey is $40.06–$50.00.
