The Position: Field Safety Advisor
Type: Seasonal, Full-time

We provide these services to federal, provincial, regional, local and Indigenous governments, to the forestry, energy, mines, petroleum, transportation and utility sectors, and to numerous regional invasive species organizations across Canada.
Why Wright Canada Holdings:
- Compensation: $22–$30 per hour, depending on experience and education.
- Work Location: Primarily remote field locations with limited access to civilization, across a variety of terrains.
- Work Hours: Full-time hours are provided; schedules vary depending on team assignment and operational needs and may change week to week. Rotations may include 3 days on/1 day off, 10 days on/4 days off, or similar schedules as required.
- Seasonal Commitment: The successful candidate must be available to work the full tree planting season, from mid- to late April through mid-August.
- Accommodation: Due to the remote nature of the role, most work will involve camping. Camping accommodation will be provided for the successful candidate. A daily per diem or camp-provided meals will also be provided.
- Ideal Candidate: This position is well-suited for a summer student eager to gain hands-on experience in reforestation, field safety, compliance, and related outdoor work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enforce compliance with pre-identified safety policies, procedures, and legislation (e.g., OH&S, WorkSafe, COR).
- Conduct on-site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and audits of crews working in remote locations.
- Identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately, document findings and corrective actions.
- Provide the safety manager with the information needed to investigate near misses, incidents, and injuries; support in preparing detailed reports and recommend preventive actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment according to manufacturer and company guidelines.
- Provide field coaching and mentoring to promote a strong safety culture and employee accountability.
- Communicate regularly with management on safety performance, risk trends, and training needs.
- Other duties as required.
Experience and Knowledge Expectations:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively to remote work sites.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards, risk management, provincial OH&S regulations and safe work procedures.
- Successful candidate must commit to working the entire tree planting season, from mid- to late April through mid-August.
- Proven ability to lead by example and enforce policies respectfully but firmly.
- Self-motivated and able to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.
- Must be confident in making difficult decisions independently, even when facing potential pushback from the broader team.
- The role involves working in challenging terrain and requires physical resilience and perseverance.
Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in isolated environments.
- Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test.
