Role Overview

As the Field Research Manager, you will lead a dispersed team of Field Researchers responsible for capturing critical, on-site data across high-priority commercial properties. This data - covering current tenants, available listings, and building characteristics - is the foundation for all CoStar Group products, providing the most accurate and comprehensive market intelligence to our clients. Your primary focus will be overseeing the team's production and quality standards, driving high performance, and providing essential coaching and development to ensure excellence in our data collection efforts. This role is based in our Sydney office and requires approximately 25% monthly travel to interstate capital cities.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build, train, mentor, and coach a growing team of 8 professional Field Researchers.

  • Provide constructive, actionable feedback and create action plans to help team members grow, succeed, and maintain engagement.

  • Ensure the manager's schedule is aligned with local Field Researchers 

Data Quality & Production Oversight

  • Daily review of the team’s production against KPI metrics.

  • Review incoming data to determine its quality relative to standards and guidelines.

  • Ensure the team meets both production and quality expectations.

Collaboration & Fieldwork

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with employees and internal partners to meet company objectives.

  • Work closely with Tenant and Market Research teams.

  • Spend time in the field with Field Researchers to demonstrate best practices for data collection, time management, and overall efficiency.

  • Requires one week of travel to local markets monthly.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required

  • Experience:

  • 3–5 years of direct operations management, preferably managing 5+ employees (virtual management is a plus).

  • Experience managing effective Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and meeting performance metrics.

  • Field experience is a plus.

  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to prioritise a team's workload and verify the quality of incoming data.

    • Proven success in building strong, cohesive teams through influence and collaboration.

    • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to articulate and execute corporate strategy.

    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret information and trends, adapting quickly.

    • Proficiency in Excel (including data manipulation, filtering, and basic formulas) and MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Apple OS, and other internet applications).
