The Role – Field Marketing Manager, Japan 

As the Field Marketing Manager for Japan, you will play a pivotal role in executing the marketing strategy for Japan, working closely with local sales teams, and the regional R&D team and corporate sustainability team, while remaining aligned with global marketing efforts. You will be the main point of contact for all local marketing activities in Japan, driving brand awareness, demand generation, and lead management to meet the region's revenue goals.

This position requires a deep understanding of B2B marketing and especially in localizing solutions for the Japanese market. You will also need a strong grasp of Japan's cultural nuances, customer behavior, and local preferences. You will report directly to the Manager, Field Marketing APAC, with a dotted line to the Country Manager, Japan. While this role requires native fluency in Japanese, you will also collaborate with global teams in English.

In essence, your role involves:

  • Develop Local Marketing Strategy: Based on the global, corporate Go-to-Market strategy, you will tailor a marketing plan specifically for the Japanese market, ensuring alignment with local market conditions, cultural nuances, and customer behavior.
  • Product Marketing & Communications: Lead efforts to localize content, develop messaging, and run campaigns to build brand awareness and demand generation.
  • Lead Generation & ROI: Drive lead tracking, lead management, and campaign ROI analysis. Work closely with the sales team to qualify leads and ensure alignment with sales objectives.
  • Event Management: Organize and manage end-to-end processes for trade shows, conferences, in-person seminars, and webinars to engage with customers/prospects.
  • Content Strategy: Collaborate with both the local sales teams and global marketing teams to develop and implement a content strategy tailored to Japan's market. This
  • includes customer-facing communications such as webinars, roundtables, blog articles, whitepapers and more.
  • Vendor and Budget Management: Oversee the timely and efficient delivery of required materials for the Japanese market, managing vendor relationships and collaborating closely with the global marketing team to ensure budget compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Strategic Insights: Serve as a strategic adviser to the business, providing insights and recommendations that drive long-term growth in Japan.

Your Expertise: 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:

  • 10-12 years in field marketing or communications, focusing on B2B and introducing foreign products to Japan, with a strong understanding of local culture
  • Proven experience with managing tradeshows, conferences, seminars, and webinars in Japan
  • Proven experience in running successful data-driven campaigns
  • Skilled in aligning Sales and Marketing teams, with experience in Account-Based Marketing
  • Native-level proficiency in Japanese and working proficiency in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex analysis to business audiences and communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization
  • Proactive, hands-on, resourceful, and strategic in solving marketing challenges
