Field Applications Engineer

About the Role
As a Field Applications Engineer at ADI, you will provide technical expertise to support sales efforts through presentations, product demonstrations, and development of customized solutions. You will act as a technical consultant bridging sales strategy and customer needs, supporting pre-sales activities including customer needs assessment, solution development, and product validation. This role requires strong technical skills combined with customer-facing abilities to drive design-ins and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Technical Support: Provide comprehensive technical support to customers in implementing ADI solutions, serving as the primary technical interface between customers and internal teams
  • Solution Development: Design, develop, and customize technical solutions to meet specific customer requirements and business needs
  • Needs Assessment: Assess customer technical needs and translate them into detailed product specifications for optimal solution design
  • Product Demonstration: Create and deliver rapid prototypes and tailored demos to validate product feasibility and showcase solutions to customers
  • Product Validation: Validate and test product capabilities to ensure they meet customer requirements and expectations
  • System Integration: Design and integrate ADI products into customer systems, optimizing performance and functionality
  • Technical Communication: Deliver clear technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences and create detailed application notes
  • Troubleshooting: Debug and resolve customer issues at the system level, providing timely and effective solutions
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively with design, applications, and marketing teams to support customer needs and new product introductions


Must Have Skills

  • Product Demonstration and Prototyping: Strong ability to create functioning prototypes and deliver compelling product demonstrations that showcase solutions effectively to customers
  • Solution Development and Customization: Demonstrated capability in designing and customizing technical solutions to match specific customer requirements and use cases
  • Technical Consultation: Proficiency in assessing customer needs, identifying optimal solutions, and providing expert technical advice throughout the sales process
  • Product Capability Validation: Ability to thoroughly test and validate product capabilities against customer requirements, ensuring solutions meet performance specifications
  • System Design and Integration: Knowledge of system design principles and experience integrating products into customer systems with attention to overall system performance
  • Technical Presentation: Strong skills in communicating complex technical concepts clearly to various audiences, adapting presentation style based on technical knowledge level
  • Technical Documentation: Ability to create detailed, accurate technical documentation including application notes, test reports, and solution specifications


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of field application engineering or related technical experience
  • Experience with analog and mixed-signal circuits, embedded systems, and microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of common communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART)
  • Programming skills in C/C++, Python, or MATLAB
  • Familiarity with semiconductor products and technologies
  • Experience in one or more key markets (industrial, automotive, healthcare)
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to support customer engagements
