Field Application Scientist

SGP - Singapore - Singapore Full time

Role Summary

The Field Application Scientist (FAS) partners closely with the Sales team to drive pre‑sales activities, early‑stage design‑in, and resin evaluation strategies for biopharmaceutical and CDMO customers across Singapore, Southeast Asia, and Australia/New Zealand (ANZ).

Based in Singapore as a regional hub, the role combines strong downstream purification expertise with a commercially agile, regionally scalable mindset, supporting customers across multiple development stages while accelerating adoption of Purolite chromatography resins. The FAS plays a critical role in regional opportunity coverage, CDMO engagement, and strategic design‑in decisions, including targeted support for key ANZ accounts.

Essential Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Pre‑Sales Support

  • Partner closely with Sales to support pre‑sales and opportunity qualification activities, including technical positioning and early‑stage design‑in of Purolite chromatography resins.

  • Engage with customers across Singapore, SEA, and selected ANZ accounts to understand molecule attributes, development timelines, and decision criteria, translating these into efficient evaluation and adoption strategies.

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor during resin selection, proof‑of‑concept studies, and comparative evaluations, supporting timely customer decision‑making.

Applied Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership to drive design‑in and adoption of Purolite resins, applying practical knowledge of chromatography and downstream purification.

  • Support purification activities across discovery, process development, pilot, and manufacturing by guiding evaluation design, troubleshooting, and scale‑up discussions, including coordination of column packing support where required.

  • Recommend scalable, cost‑effective, and commercially viable purification solutions aligned with customer timelines and regional priorities.

Design‑In & Regional Opportunity Management

  • Lead and coordinate multiple customer resin evaluations simultaneously across a regional territory, ensuring prioritization aligned with Sales strategy.

  • Position Purolite resins within customer pipelines, CDMO platforms, and regional manufacturing strategies, including early‑stage programs with downstream scale‑up potential.

  • Capture technical and commercial insights to support regional pipeline visibility, opportunity prioritization, and win‑rate improvement.

Sales Partnership & Commercial Enablement

  • Partner closely with Sales on joint customer meetings, technical presentations, and follow‑up activities across Singapore, SEA, and ANZ.

  • Support Commercial objectives through technical seminars, product demonstrations, and customer training, tailored to diverse customer segments and regional needs.

Internal Collaboration & Market Intelligence

  • Collaborate with Applications, Product Management, Marketing, and R&D to share regional market trends, competitive insights, and customer feedback.

  • Support new product introductions and adoption initiatives across the region.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge‑sharing platforms with application, evaluation, and market insights.

Territory Support

  • Willingness to travel regularly within Singapore and Southeast Asia, with periodic travel to Australia and New Zealand to support strategic customer engagements and priority opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or PhD preferred in a relevant life science or engineering discipline.

  • ≥5 years of relevant experience in downstream purification, process development, MSAT, or applications.

  • Strong understanding of the biopharmaceutical, CDMO, and biotech landscape in Singapore and Southeast Asia; familiarity with the ANZ market is a strong advantage.

  • Experience supporting resin evaluation, process development, or technology selection across multiple customer types and development stages.

  • Practical exposure to chromatography operations across discovery, pilot, and manufacturing environments.

  • Experience in customer‑facing technical or commercial support roles (FAS, Product Specialist, Technical Sales, or equivalent).

  • Ability to manage multiple fast‑moving opportunities across a broad regional territory.
