Field Application & Sales Engineer

This is a hybrid position combining Account Management (50%) and Field Application Engineering (50%) responsibilities.


As an Account Manager, you will manage a portfolio of assigned customers, driving business growth and promotional activities while building strong, long-term relationships. You will report directly to the Regional Sales Manager and play a key role in expanding customer engagement and revenue opportunities.


As a Field Application Engineer, you will support demand-creation activities for customers managed by other account managers within the office. You will provide technical expertise and application support to help accelerate customer projects and design adoption.

In this role, you will drive revenue growth and increase DWIN gross profit by promoting and supporting the design-in of semiconductor solutions, guiding customers from initial concept through to full production.

You will perform a variety of product, technical, and engineering functions, including but not limited to pre- and post-sales support, research, design, and development activities, ensuring customers receive the technical guidance needed to successfully implement solutions.


 

What you will do:

  • Act as Account Manager for assigned customers, building strong relationships with both purchasing and technical departments while driving promotion, identifying new projects, and developing new business opportunities.

  • Provide technical support to Avnet Silica customers to help achieve design-in objectives and accelerate customer development cycles.

  • Drive design-in activities with a strong focus on DWIN and project gross profit (GP) optimization.

  • Develop strong engineering and marketing relationships within supplier business units to foster collaboration and support solution development at the engineering level.

  • Identify customers’ technical requirements and propose system-level or technical solutions based on the Avnet Silica line card, targeting successful design-in registrations.

  • Proactively work on a selected portfolio of accounts, or alongside the Sales team, to create opportunities within both new and existing customers.

  • Increase revenue and margin within assigned accounts while supporting the Sales team on selected projects (PJ).

  • Organize and deliver customer workshops, product presentations, and tool demonstrations to influence and support Avnet Silica product selection.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer technical departments, including key decision-makers and influencers.

  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with local supplier contacts, with a focus on strategic suppliers.

  • Participate in supplier and internal technical training, obtaining and maintaining all required certifications.

  • Support Account Managers and Internal Sales teams by providing technical expertise on components, tools, and system solutions.

Ideal person:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in electronic design within the electronics industry or an R&D environment, and/or experience in a technical sales or business development role in the electronics or semiconductor industry.

  • University degree in Electronic Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

  • Good understanding of and strong interest in semiconductors, particularly analog and power technologies and products.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts to both technical and commercial audiences.

  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Good facilitation skills, including delivering presentations, leading meetings, and running technical workshops.

  • Proactive, creative, and self-motivated, with a strong sense of initiative.

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • Willingness to travel as required and hold a valid driver’s license.

  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across sales, engineering, and supplier teams.
