FGL Global Process Owner

Sofia, Bulgaria Full Time

Global Process Owner — Finance

📍 Sofia, Bulgaria

About the team

If you're a finance professional who thinks in processes and speaks the language of data and systems — this role was built for you.

You'll own the end-to-end accounting processes behind SumUp's core financial products: payments, banking, and lending. It's a role where finance meets technology and analytics — and where your ability to bridge these worlds will have a direct impact on how SumUp scales globally.

You'll join the Finance Accounting & Controlling team in Sofia, part of a global finance function operating across Europe, the US, and Latin America. The FGL (Financial General Ledger) domain sits at the heart of SumUp's most significant financial flows — and the scope and impact of this role grows with our business.

This is an individual contributor role with significant cross-functional influence, reporting directly to the VP of Finance Operations.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end design and continuous improvement of accounting processes for payments, banking, and lending
  • Work with large, complex datasets to identify process gaps, reconciliation issues, and automation opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with finance and business stakeholders to ensure accounting processes grow and adapt with the business
  • Act as the finance domain expert in conversations with Systems Architects, ERP, and product teams — ensuring accounting logic is reflected in how our SAP S/4HANA and SAP FICO systems are built and integrated
  • Drive automation across the FGL domain, turning manual, fragmented processes into scalable, reliable accounting flows

What you'll bring

  • A strong accounting foundation with genuine comfort working with large, complex datasets
  • Strong understanding of financial products — payments, banking, or lending — and how they flow through an ERP and general ledger
  • Experience working with SAP financial modules, including SAP S/4HANA and SAP FICO
  • Comfortable working with technology teams — you don't need to be technical, but you can translate finance requirements into something they can act on
  • A process improvement mindset — you're energised by finding better ways, not maintaining the status quo
  • Background in banking, financial services, or a high-growth fintech is preferred
  • A Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus
