Facilities Lead

Location: Houston, Texas – onsite

The Facilities Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of site infrastructure. Based on-site, this role provides hands-on leadership and coordination of facilities services, supporting uninterrupted operations and enabling Lonza to deliver high-quality medicines to patients worldwide.

Compensation for this role will be determined by the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and relevant knowledge.

What you will do

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and reliability of all site facility infrastructure, including buildings, grounds, utilities, HVAC (non-GMP), safety, and security systems.

  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors, service providers, and IFM partners to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery aligned with site needs.

  • Act as the tactical day-to-day point of contact between Lonza and IFM providers, ensuring effective communication, prioritization, and execution of facility activities.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain preventive and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring all work is appropriately documented and compliant with GMP requirements.

  • Perform routine facility inspections, identify risks or improvement opportunities, and support deviation investigations and CAPA activities related to facilities and pest control.

  • Manage service requests, emergency response, and critical facility issues, scheduling activities to minimize disruption to operations and production.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, cost optimization, SOP development, and knowledge sharing while supporting equipment start-up and in-house repair activities.

What we are looking for

  • An Associate’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience; a Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferred.

  • Advanced experience (5–10 years) in facilities, utilities, or maintenance management within a regulated or GMP environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of facility systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and general building infrastructure.

  • Proven ability to manage contractors and vendors while working collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • A solid understanding of quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document, analyze, and solve problems effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with SAP PM CMMS, Visio, or Minitab is an advantage.
