The Failure Analysis Technician is responsible for investigating product and process failures, determining root causes, and supporting corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reliability. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams and utilizes advanced laboratory techniques to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform failure analysis on electronic components, assemblies, and systems using established analytical methods.
  • Identify root causes of failures and document findings with clear, data‑driven conclusions.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and experiments to isolate failure mechanisms.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and present results to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to recommend and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Operate and interpret results from analytical equipment, including SEM, X‑ray, EDX, and related tools.
  • Support the development, refinement, and standardization of failure analysis techniques and procedures.
  • Perform routine tool maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting to ensure lab readiness.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and documentation standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience in a laboratory environment performing testing and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of semiconductor materials, electronic components, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience or exposure to failure analysis methodologies or related quality investigations.
  • Familiarity with basic statistical analysis and quality tools (e.g., SPC, root cause analysis).
  • Proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and analytical tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced analytical techniques such as SEM, EDX, X‑ray, or optical microscopy.
  • Background in quality assurance or reliability engineering environments.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement or corrective action processes.

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $29 to $37.
  • Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors.
