A Glimpse of the Job

The Faculty Compensation Specialist II performs routine and some complex faculty compensation-related processes in Workday by serving as a coordinating resource and offering guidance, troubleshooting support, and process recommendations that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across faculty compensation and appointment actions.

Essential Duties and Tasks:

Business Process Consultation and Approval for Faculty Employees

  • Under supervision, serves as a secondary point of contact for Faculty Affairs, HR Professionals, Budget Contacts, and Departmental Faculty Liaisons regarding Workday business processes and routing related to faculty compensation actions.

  • Collaborates with Faculty Affairs, HR Professionals, and other stakeholders to drive timely resolutions to critical faculty processing issues. Assesses needs, troubleshoots issues, and recommends solutions.

  • Reviews and approves faculty compensation actions in Workday, including hires, reappointments, transfers, promotions, supplemental compensation, and merit processes.

  • Facilitates and validates faculty data mass loads (EIBs) into Workday. 

  • Collects, analyzes, and documents process enhancement requests related to faculty.

  • Produces reports to support faculty processing functions.

  • Maintains compliance with policies and regulations concerning data security and access to confidential faculty information. 

Troubleshooting

  • Investigates faculty business process scenarios to identify root causes and recommend appropriate corrective action.

  • Reviews faculty offer and appointment documents; identifies and resolves errors or escalates complex issues as needed.

Data Consultation

  • Assesses stakeholder needs through direct interaction and consultation.

  • Creates detailed functional and technical specifications for data requirements related to faculty processing.

  • Ensures faculty data is accurately entered, maintained, and audited according to rules, policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Assists with testing and validation of configuration, integrations, and reports related to service quality and faculty processing.

Training and Document Creation/Maintenance

  • Develops and delivers training for end-users on faculty-related Workday processes.

  • Documents current business processes and ensures resource materials are maintained and available for HR Professionals.

  • Participates in training and professional development sessions.

Secondary Support

  • Offers backup support in the areas of Laserfiche, TeamDynamix, graduate assistantships, and student employment.

  • Provides mentoring to student workers.

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary: $59,240 annually

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Three years of related experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge the Workday HCM application.

  • Experience working with faculty employment, compensation, or academic HR processes.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Provides mentoring to student workers.

  • Strong written analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients, staff, and groups of various sizes.

  • Working knowledge of HR concepts, principles, and practices.

  • Ability to deliver presentations and training sessions.

  • Ability to deal with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality as required by state and federal law.

  • This position is security sensitive.

  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU regulations and procedures. 

  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.

  • (If applicable) This position allows alternate work location per TAMU guidelines.

  • Works to cover shifts, or take emergency call, on evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
