  • To meet plan achievement of Supply chain products for the financial year by delivering required quantity and quality of saponified neat soap type at the right time and location.          

  • To achieve and sustain world-class quality of Supply chain products                                                                    

  • To achieve and sustain world-class factory standard                        

  • To participate in constantly improving saponification plants systems and processes                   

Job Purpose:

To coordinate, control and manage soap saponification activities as well as maintenance of the plant and components.

Overall, 3 shift Saponification column operators, Dryer operators, Bleacher Operators, PLF operators, Blending operators

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

MAINTAINS AND SUSTAINS QUALITY, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

Key Activities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the required quantity of neat soap for purpose of further processing is saponified and to the quality standard as is required.
  • Analysing and confirming quality of neat soap produced in conformity with the quality assurance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to all Business Unit SOP’s and SOC’s (Standard Operating Conditions) and that all operations comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), safety standards and provisions.
  • Supporting in the cleaning of saponification area and other housekeeping activities.
  • Documenting all his operations as is required and necessary.
  • Performing other tasks and activities as could be delegated by his supervisor.
  • Ensure investigation and correction of deviations in process behaviour. Escalate issues to get prompt attention whenever necessary.
  • Understand roles and responsibilities and the importance of conformity with the Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Implements and complies with Environmental Management System requirements relating to environmental aspects and impacts and other policies, procedures and /or regulations applicable to.
  • Avoid Spillages when handling raw materials and semi-finished goods.

Level of finished neat soap Alkalinity, Chloride and Moisture compared to the quality specification

  • To be aware of the hazards in the workplace within his control, and the control measures to reduce the risk associated with those hazards.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) OBJECTIVES

Key Activities:

  • Understand roles and responsibilities and the importance of conformity with the EMS requirements.
  • Implements and complies with EMS requirements relating to environmental aspects and impacts and other policies, procedures and /or regulations applicable to assigned jobs.

QUALITY AND PLAN COMPLIANCE DELIVERY:

Ensure that manufacturing operation meets stipulated GMP

Key Accountability:

To have a good knowledge of GMP requirements and application on site in line with GMP standard (PZC GMP standard/NAFDAC requirements)

QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (QMS) OBJECTIVES:

Key Accountability:

To ensure the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) and improve on the system.

TO ENSURE ADEQUATE TIME MANAGEMENT

Key Activities:

  • Employs Time Mgt. tools to plan his day effectively while identifying value added tasks
  • Reviews his use of time against company objectives, KPI’s & prioritises the A,B,C & D tasks
  • Identifies and eliminates Time Bandits
  • Ensures accurate time keeping i.e. return from breaks, start-up time, etc.

FOCUSED AND ACCURATE PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

Key Activities:

  • Ensures he knows and understand fully how a measure works and why it is important
  • Can demonstrate how measures deliver business benefits and all measures in his area are completed on time, in full and linked to the target.
  • Is able to identify Lost Time, Plan Vs. Actual Losses etc. and takes action to prevent it.

COMMUNICATION

Key Activities:

  • Understands and can demonstrate the importance of using all the elements of communication e.g. Written, Vocal and Body Language
  • Uses both One-Way and Two-Way communication regularly and effectively
  • Prepares well before communicating. Uses appropriate visual aids and is assertive when required.

BASICS OF LEAN

Key Activities:

  • Is knowledgeable of the 7 types of MUDA (Waste)
  • Is familiar with the principles of Lean Thinking
  • Is able to demonstrate a knowledge of the 5S’ and where it is practised in his area
  • Is familiar with CIP practice, GMP practice and safety practice requirements.

STRUCTURED PROBLEM SOLVING

Key Activities:

  • Is able to apply the Root Cause Analysis in solving problems associated with his plant.
  • Uses SMART Targets and Action Plans

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • To work with the Shift supervisor continually to improve plant performance while adhering to legislative and company standards.
  • To work closely as a team with other shift-based leaders to prioritise shift activity and deliver plant targets

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Needed:

Required Qualifications:

  • SSCE/NABTEB/OND/HND

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ work experience in a similar position
  • Engineering knowledge
  • Ability to withstand stress and work under pressure
