A Day in the Life:

The Facility Assistant I supports day‑to‑day grain and special crops operations by operating processing equipment, handling product movement, and assisting with receiving, storing, and shipping activities. This entry‑level operations role plays an important part in maintaining product quality, inventory accuracy, and safe facility operations while providing consistent customer service through regular interaction with producers and internal teams.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Operate grain and special crops processing equipment, including binning, cleaning, drying, blending, and storing product to meet quality and shipping requirements while maximizing blending opportunities.
  • Document and report bin mixes, collect samples, and support quality analysis activities.
  • Prepare, weigh, and load railcars and trucks for outbound shipments.
  • Prepare shipping documentation and maintain grain and special crops samples.
  • Receive and record incoming product, noting quality, damages, or shortages, and support inventory accuracy through regular checks and reconciliations, escalating issues to Facility Assistant II as required.
  • Assist with grading activities, including dockage and moisture assessments of grains, oilseeds, and special crops under direct supervision.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor equipment repairs, and service equipment used for product movement.
  • Maintain facility and grounds cleanliness, keeping work areas tidy and free of fire hazards while following EH&S guidelines and ISO procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required to support safe and efficient facility operations.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience with grain and/or special crops is considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work independently while following established operating procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and customers.
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain grain processing and farm supply equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform operational duties within a grain or special crops facility environment.
