The Opportunity

The Facilities Systems Specialist is part of the Abbott Core Diagnostics division, and works at our Dallas Campus located in Irving, Texas. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

In this role, you will report directly to the Facilities Manager to oversee systems essential for operating a large Abbott campus, aiming to minimize downtime, protect assets, and ensure employee safety and comfort. Responsibilities will include configuration, validation, administrative support, maintenance, and end user support of a variety of systems that may include Building Management systems, Automated Environmental Monitoring systems, Maintenance Management systems, Access Control systems, Video Surveillance systems, Audio/Visual systems, and Video Conferencing systems. 

What You’ll Work On

The Facilities Systems Specialist will influence future digital strategy while functioning as server administrator for multiple critical IT systems required for campus operations at the Irving, Texas facility.  The position will be responsible for campus facilities IT systems including hardware and software.  Specific responsibilities may include: 

  • Development of a long-range plan for Facilities Systems including lifecycle management, obsolescence planning, end-of-support strategies, technology refresh and modernization roadmap.
  • Server administration and system support of validated environmental monitoring systems within a highly regulated quality system.
  • Server administration and system support of critical building management systems (BMS) for campus operational control.
  • Configuration and support of enterprise asset management system such as Maximo.
  • Server administration and system support of security access control system such as Genetec.
  • Server administration and system support of video surveillance system hardware and software.
  • Configuration and support of audio/visual and video conferencing systems.
  • Administer and provide technical support for Shared Services SharePoint sites.
  • Define scope and manage third party services in support of Facilities systems that may include CAD applications, monitoring systems, building management systems, security systems, audio/visual systems, etc.
  • Software and server change management and monitoring. 
  • Serve as technical liaison with IT to support network and maintain secure IT infrastructure for site operations as related to Facilities systems.
  • Lead and execute software system validation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Interface frequently with inter-organizational customers and outside vendor contacts.
  • Represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
  • Prepare written communication. Convey information effectively through formal and informal documents with team members, designers, technicians, and other technical personnel, both internal and external to Abbott, using appropriate communication protocols.
  • Generate Requests for Capital Expenditures as related to Facilities systems.
  • You’ll be accountable to meet compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 2-5 years of related work experience in this discipline OR equivalent combination of education and applicable work experience.
  • Experience with cGMP and cGLP practices and projects preferred. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
  • Works on problems of significant scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Has a good knowledge of technical alternatives and a strong understanding of facilities and utilities systems and how they impact the environment.

The base pay for this position is

$61,300.00 – $122,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
