National Interstate is looking for a Facilities Supervisor to join their team. This individual will onsite out of the Richfield, Ohio office.

National Interstate’s culture is built on connection, shared learning, and strong relationships. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on-site five days a week.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinates routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and lighting systems. Ensures work is completed to standards.

  • Assigns and monitors responses to maintenance requests. Provides guidance on troubleshooting issues in office spaces, common areas, and building systems.

  • Leads repair work on office furniture, fixtures, and minor structural components.

  • Plans and leads grounds maintenance activities, including snow and ice removal operations.

  • Coordinates and manages external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or installations; verifies compliance with specifications and safety requirements.

  • Ensures team adherence to company and regulatory safety programs. Conducts safety audits and addresses compliance gaps.

  • Reviews and maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Prepares reports for management as needed.

  • Oversees office moves, furniture setups, and workspace reconfigurations, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Leads the collection and analysis of employee location and space utilization data.

  • Coordinates lease negotiations and renewals, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders and monitoring lease contract compliance.

  • Supervises the review and verification of lease-related expenses and invoices and supports analysis of lease and construction costs. Monitors rents, escalations, and portfolio performance, and escalates issues or trends as needed.

  • Assists in preparing and reviewing real estate and facilities budgets and forecasts, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.

  • May lead the team in providing janitorial support as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred.

Experience: Generally, a minimum of 6 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.

Scope of Job/Qualifications: Requires a minimum of 2 reports. Responsible for overseeing team priorities and coordinating daily tasks. May occasionally perform tasks alongside direct reports. Operates under policies and procedures with limited oversight. Responsible for performance and coaching of staff and has a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management. Maintains advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems. Maintains advanced knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, industry developments, and evolving best practices. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Provides training to new members of the team.
