Job Summary:

Bucknell University is seeking two Facilities Maintenance Assistants. The successful candidates in these positions will perform general labor, custodial, groundskeeping and basic trades duties to support the Trades Technician, Groundskeeper, and custodial staff. Duties include: minor building maintenance, construction support, setups/teardowns for events on campus, moving furniture on campus, and the operation of lawn and snow removal equipment.

  • Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm

What you will do:

  • Assists the Trades Technicians with basic tasks such as replacing standard plumbing parts, repairing wall damage, hanging bulletin boards and signage, painting drywall, replacing ceiling tiles, and repairing broken windows.

  • Provides general labor including dismantling, moving, and reassembling furniture, and moving construction supplies and equipment between work sites.

  • Performs general groundskeeping work on campus grounds such as mowing grass, trimming trees and shrubs, weeding, preparing seed beds, mulching, leaf removal, and shoveling snow.

  • Assists Custodians including spot cleaning, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, and stripping and waxing floors.

  • Ability to use small tools and repair small equipment

  • The job description's listed responsibilities and tasks are not exhaustive, additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

What you will bring:

Required

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Up to 1 year of physical labor or maintenance experience

  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred, But Not Required

  • 2 years of physical labor or maintenance experience
     

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds; Crouching; Reaching overhead; Pulling/Pushing, Bending, Shoveling, Stooping; Climbing stairs/ladders; Kneeling/squatting; Lifting up to 50 pounds

Salary Range:

16.00-18.15

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy. 

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
