The Opportunity

The Facilities Engineer Intern will gain hands-on experience by supporting the Facilities team with critical projects related to equipment management, documentation, and process improvement. This role is an excellent opportunity to apply engineering principles in a real-world setting and develop a broad understanding of how a facility's physical plant and documentation systems are managed in a leading technology company.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in a site-wide initiative to identify, document, and apply asset tags to critical facility equipment.

  • Organize and digitize a large volume of existing engineering drawings and prints.

  • Systematically sort through and catalog hard-copy binders containing crucial equipment documentation and technical drawings.

  • Play a key role in designing and creating a centralized digital repository for all facilities-related documentation, including drawings, manuals, and maintenance records.

  • Work with the engineering team to establish a logical structure and naming convention for the repository to ensure easy access and long-term usability.

  • Shadow and support senior facilities engineers and technicians to understand the operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

  • Assist in documenting existing equipment maintenance procedures and schedules.

  • Support project managers and superintendents with various tasks, which may include observing meetings, preparing reports, and helping to coordinate activities.

What You Will Need

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.

  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings and prints.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable learning new software.

  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail are essential for the documentation and repository aspects of this role.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A proactive and independent worker who can also collaborate effectively within a team environment.

  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
