Job Details:
Job Summary: Plans, designs, oversees reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of buildings and equipment and implements new processes or improvements in the operations or construction of facilities. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares statements of work/specifications and estimates for facility related projects.
- Applies engineering principles and techniques to solve building, equipment and infrastructure issues.
- Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications and makes recommendations on repair/replacement investment.
- Manages project budgets.
- Determines project needs and develops management control systems to meet budget or reduce costs.
- Identify ways those processes can be refined to improve service delivery and efficiency.
- Prepares SOPs and provides training to staff as necessary.
- Regularly confers with internal clients and all levels of management.
- Works with teams to define project requirements and accomplish goals.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records, and prepares clear and concise written
- Manages contracts and contractors and performs surveillance and inspections of contracted work when related to maintaining facilities equipment/building systems.
- Understands procurement and general accounting principles.
- Reviews and recommends ways to minimize energy usage so as to operate facilities in a more cost effective manner.
- Generally familiar with regulations and building codes.
- Inspects buildings and facilities infrastructure to ascertain their condition and state of readiness.
- Document the condition, deficiencies, recommendations and estimated cost of repairs.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Four year college degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience and two years’ experience.
- Understands and knowledgeable of engineering principles and practices.
- Able to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, SAP, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM software, and FMIS software.
- Available to travel. General understanding of basic architectural and MEP designs, building codes, and construction/project management principles.
- General understands of facility management processes and uses knowledge of the methods and activities.
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
