In this role, the Facilities Area Manager is responsible for facilities engineering and construction project management. The Facilities Area Manager will enhance and improve the infrastructure systems while leading capital projects and renovations across the Hendersonville plant. The role supports engineering operations, lab readiness, and strategic initiatives and ensures compliance with environmental, safety, and energy standards. This role is critical to enabling product development, testing, and innovation activities across multiple engineering domains. This role reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilities Engineering
    • Collaborate with product engineering and validation teams to ensure facility readiness for new programs and testing protocols.
    • Supervise external contractors supporting Facility work at the site.
    • Maintain documentation for facility layouts and facility equipment specifications.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, OSHA, VDA TISAZ, IATF 16949 standards including BorgWarner’s global facility standards.
    • Support sustainability initiatives and energy efficiency improvements that support ISO 50001.

  • Construction Project Engineering
    • Manage construction and renovation projects including lab expansions, infrastructure upgrades, office reconfigurations and coordination of external contractors.
    • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and building codes.
    • Provide project management for scope changes related to lab infrastructure and engineering support.
    • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource plans for projects.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely and compliant execution.
    • Apply BorgWarner’s Facility Design Guidelines for site selection, building systems, and sustainability.
    • Oversee construction quality, safety, and adherence to local codes and corporate standards.
    • Provide engineering support for capital investment planning and execution.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in facilities or construction project engineering, preferably in an automotive technical center or R&D environment
  • Strong understanding of building systems, lab infrastructure, and construction management.
  • Experience managing capital projects and facility upgrades.
  • Experience with CAD tools, facility management software, and project scheduling tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, IATF 16949, ISO 50001 and OSHA standards.
  • Excellent communication, project management, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

$92,800 - $127,600
