POSITION SUMMARY

The Team Lead supports the day-to-day business unit department goals are being met through team leadership & communication, safety, quality, and delivery. They ensure uninterrupted production flow in assigned processes and provide problem support and coaching to employees.

KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively supports training efforts of entire team, including new hires. Takes proactive approach in training plans. Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements. Some roles may require additional Training Coordinator responsibilities as outlined below.
  • Ensures team is aware of company messages, schedule changes, and procedures. Effectively communicates with other stakeholders.
  • Supports the production process by filling in positions on the line when necessary to maintain the flow of work when absences occur (Vacation, PTO, Restroom breaks, etc.).
  • Provides regular recognition to team and individuals, and keeps applicable Supervisors informed.
  • Displays knowledge of lean principles, keeps metrics updated and regularly promotes improvement ideas. Serves a change agent and drive out waste throughout department through the deployment of the Lean methodology.
  • Consistently follows nVent policy and practices. Is objective in decision making and communicates effectively with all levels. Enforces company and department policy within Team.
  • Supports safety metric & risk reduction initiatives through completing regular safety inspections, observation/risk cards and ensure safety of team.
  • Promotes behavior-based safety culture - safety improvements, risk notification process, and regular safety coaching or discussions with others.
  • Remains engaged with committee members to drive improvements in the area and campus.
  • Supports and drives quality improvements and reduction of rework metric by implementing proactive quality improvement ideas and supporting entire NCR cycle.
  • Promotes and ensures focus of quality work through coaching others on quality, training to standards, identifying quality errors, ensuring quality documentation is accurate.
  • Supports meeting on-time delivery metrics though ensuring efficient flow of work. Identifies and resolves barriers and obstacles. Promotes takt time.
  • Identifies, prioritizes, promotes and communicates completion of past dues. Ensures completion/closure of work/sales orders.
  • Provides backup to the Production Supervisor.
  • Provides coaching and feedback to operators directly, escalating recurrent behaviors to Supervisor.
  • May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or G.E.D
  • 3-5 years production work experience preferred.
  • Computer experience with Windows Word, Excel, Outlook, JD Edwards and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of all operations of the assigned production process required.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, and ability to promote compliance with them.
  • Skill in analytical thinking and problem solving.
  • Skill in communicating effectively through oral and written communications.
  • Skill in following detailed assembly instructions, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate job expectations to production staff and achieving desired results by monitoring, coaching, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to achieve high productivity by reliable and punctual attendance and reporting any tardiness, attendance issues and disciplinary issues to the Production Supervisor.
  • Ability to conduct operator training on standard work to include work instructions, machine adjustments, product quality, company and value stream policies and procedures as required.
  • Ability to identify and support continuous improvement efforts with the Production Supervisor.
  • Ability to sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstance and have the ability to thrive in a constantly changing business environment.

Pay Transparency
 
nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
 
Compensation Range:

$23.90 - $44.40 Per Hour

Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
