Job Summary:

Supervises employees, characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes, with multiple areas of operations and often including reports. Supervisor II or III, Fabrication Maintenance, is a pivotal role in steering our operations towards excellence. Responsible for overseeing a range of critical functions, this position ensures strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. 

​The role demands a dynamic leader who can effectively manage people and processes, driving team performance and business results through inspirational leadership and effective communication. 

What will you do?

  • Oversee the preventive maintenance program, ensuring optimal performance and reducing downtime, while maintaining records for all machines and equipment. 

  • Manage cost control and inventory within the maintenance department, including submitting cost estimates for major repairs or replacements to management, overseeing the purchasing of maintenance supplies, and ensuring efficient inventory management. 

  • Plan and schedule the workload for maintenance personnel, monitoring progress and supervising the installation and relocation of equipment in collaboration with relevant departments. 

  • Oversee the janitorial department to maintain a clean, orderly facility in compliance with 5S principles, promoting continuous improvement across the facility. 

  • Coordinate capital expense projects for facility improvements and additions with the Manufacturing Engineering department, ensuring timely execution. 

  • Estimate time requirements for maintenance and janitorial tasks, assigning work accordingly and ensuring efficient use of resources. 

  • Lead and participate in lean activities within assigned area and cross-functionally to improve processes and efficiency. 
     

  • ​Collaborate and support site leadership and senior management to refine and optimize processes in accordance with the Toro Business Systems framework, leading initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and contribute to significant business outcomes. 

  • ​Coordinate daily and weekly work schedules, staffing requirements, daily preventative, and various maintenance projects to maximize productivity of a large team or multiple shifts / areas. Considers and recommends resource requirements to meet future needs in the most cost-effective manner. 

  • ​Lead maintenance activity, identify equipment issues, troubleshoot causes, and develop short- and long-term solutions as merited. 

  • ​Coordinate the setup and use of tools and equipment ensuring maintenance and repair of pumps, grinders, mixers, and a variety of other machines.   

  • ​Manage installations and ensure tests on new equipment. Ensures that maintenance standards are compliant with statutory health and safety regulations.  

  • ​Communicate clear expectations, goals, and accomplishments to the team, tying back to l TTC quality standards, and government regulations. 

  • ​Drive a safety-first culture of adherence and accountability in daily operations and decision-making. 

  • ​Lead and advance quality and continuous improvement initiatives, driving the development and implementation of innovative solutions that elevate organizational performance. 

  • ​Drive a culture of trust and accountability by demonstrating honesty, integrity, clear communications and ethical behaviors. 

  • ​Engage and support team members' development and collaboration toward common goals, while taking ownership of team performance to drive business success.  

  • ​Other duties as assigned.​ 

What Do You Need? 

  • ​High School Diploma or /GED equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.  

  • ​Minimum of 3 years of experience in operations manufacturing or distribution environment with a maintenance focus.  

  • ​Minimum of 2 years of experience in supervisory role experience. 

  • ​Excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills.  

  • ​Ability to work effectively with a diverse team.  

  • ​Organizational and time management skills.  

  • ​Proficient software application skills; preferred Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Kronos, Workday. 

  • ​Champion and advocate of safety protocols and regulations. 

  • ​Strong organizational and planning abilities. 

  • ​Proficient in LEAN or continuous improvement via Kazen, 5S, etc.; certification preferred. 

  • ​Proven ability to meet required goals and adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
