External Affairs – Community Relations Assistant (FWS CSLP)

Position Summary/Purpose:

This position supports the External Affairs department by assisting with the University’s community relations efforts. The primary focus of the role is providing support for events and external meetings related to community engagement. Some responsibilities may involve handling sensitive or confidential information related to the University, affiliated organizations, faculty, students, employees, contracted staff, or members of the general public.

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the coordination of External Affairs Community Relations events including but not limited to: event set-up, invite creation, continual updating of contact lists, pulling survey data, printing sign-in sheets, and tracking meeting attendance.
  • Attend community events, neighborhood meetings, and other neighborhood activities to receive resident feedback and respectfully represent the University at said events.
  • Administer communications with appropriate professional verbiage between community stakeholders and the University when requested. Be available to help with campus visitors including tours and meetings.
  • Update the 27Collab website with event information and respond to any questions or inquiries submitted from the public.
  • Assisting with the coordination and set up of tabling events and other appropriate promotional events related to government relations/external affairs. Other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used and Responsibility

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Experience/  Education

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student-first policy; therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
