General Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant VP of Risk Management, the Export Control Officer and PIR Administrator is responsible for the facilitation of university compliance with policies and regulations that involve export control determinations or public information requests. This position will also assist Risk Management and Academic and Research Environmental health and Safety on special projects as directed.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, coordinate, and respond to requests for public information to include making necessary redactions/withholdings, and providing responsive information to the requestor.
- Implement, track, monitor, and mitigate export control concerns per institution, TAMUS, state, and federal regulations.
- Study and remain current on export control regulations at the institutional, state, and federal levels.
- Facilitate export control committee meetings, meeting minutes, and agenda.
- Review and update institutional guide related to export controls.
- Train and educate the university community on export controls.
- Draft and submit assessments and mitigation reports regarding export control risks.
- Study and remain current on public information act at the institutional and state levels.
- Implement, track, monitor, and mitigate public information concerns per institution and TAMUS requirements.
- Review and update institutional resources related to public information requests.
- Train and educate the university community on public information requests.
- Draft and submit assessments and reports regarding requests for public information.
- Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.

Necessary Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four (4) years of related work experience.
- Strong writing and editing skills, including technical writing and video manipulation software
- Ability to collect, write and report various types of data sets.
- Skilled in the use of MS Office and outlook to prepare reports, edit documents, and manage calendars.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, in an academic setting.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to lean and operate compliance software.
- Ability to function under deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Diplomacy – ability to work in a team environment and to develop and maintain good professional relations with university and regulatory constituents
- Customer service driven.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Ability to exhibit a professional, positive attitude and work ethic.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required and ability to show empathy and interact professionally with academic community.

- Critical thinking and sound judgment required.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism – must sign confidentiality agreement.
- Proficiency with computers and data entry into electronic tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Seven (7) years of related to implementing regulatory compliance guidelines, especially Export Control at the institutional level based on system, state and federal requirements as related specifically to all university areas.
- Experience in implementing training and development initiatives.
- Experience in a university setting.
- Experience with Visual Compliance and GovQA softwares.
- Experience reviewing research grants and proposals to identify compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of university settings.
- Knowledge of federal Export Control regulations.
- Knowledge of State of Texas Public Information Act.
- Ability to read and interpret rules and regulations.
