Experienced R&D Design Engineer - Process Innovation and Sustainability

As a Design Engineer for R&D at GEA Process Engineering, you will play a key role in developing the next generation of process solutions – from idea and prototype to the finished product on the market.

You will be involved in the development, testing, and documentation of prototypes, as well as scaling up, industrialization, and establishing a supply chain in collaboration with production and procurement.

The role combines technical depth with cross-disciplinary coordination – and you will be an important sparring partner for colleagues, collaborative partners, R&D project managers, and R&D management.

Responsibilities / Tasks

Our R&D Department in Søborg functions as an integral part of GEA's global technology hub for powders. Here, we innovate and create new processes, devices, measurement tools, and machinery for the production and handling of powder products—from catalyst and battery powders to infant formula and instant coffee.

Assignments and Responsibility

  • Participate in the development of new process components and systems through driving layout, documentation and design
  • Translate project inputs into complete 3D layouts and assembly documentation, making sure every element is placed, documented and connected.
  • Prepare requirement specifications, test protocols, and documentation
  • Execute and report test and validation activities
  • Participate in design reviews and technical clarifications with stakeholders
  • Ensure the handover of developed solutions to production and marketing
  • Contribute to setting up the supply chain for new products in close collaboration with procurement, production, and quality

Your Profile / Qualifications

You are an experienced and independent engineer who thrives on taking technical and professional responsibility – from the initial ideas to finished solutions. You can combine theoretical understanding with practical execution, and you are motivated by creating results that can be industrialized and create value for the customer. You can work independently and proposing solutions to most challenges on your own.

Qualifications

  • Technical draftsperson, mechanical designer, mechanical technician, mechanical or process engineer.
  • A skilled user of Inventor or Solidworks, who is well-versed in both the technical details and the broader scope of mechanical constructions, and ideally also installations.
  • Capable of producing 2D drawings with part lists, system arrangements, and principal diagrams.
  • Experienced with P&ID’s and preferably Plant 3D.
  • Solid experience within your field, ready to navigate development projects.
  • Able to perform simple strength and/or process calculations, though this is not a requirement.
  • Proficient in Danish and English, both written and spoken.
