Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking an experienced and motivated Claims Analyst to join our Special Investigation Unit (SIU). SIU is a specialized team dedicated to protecting the integrity of the claims process. We focus on identifying, investigating, and preventing insurance fraud through detailed analysis, collaboration, and fact-based decision-making. Our work helps ensure honest policyholders are treated fairly while safeguarding the company from financial and reputational risk.

SIU professionals combine investigative expertise, critical thinking, and industry knowledge to uncover complex and suspicious claim activity. We work closely with claims, underwriting, legal, and law enforcement partners to conduct thorough investigations and support ethical claim outcomes.

Driven by integrity, accountability, and professionalism, the SIU plays a vital role in maintaining trust, compliance, and operational excellence across the organization.

The position's desired skills and experience are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) and similar analytical tools.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, strong judgment, and the ability to work independently while thriving in a team environment.
  • Support investigators specializing in insurance fraud investigations.
  • Collaboration across internal and external business partners to identify and mitigate fraudulent activity.
  • Develop and deliver fraud awareness training and educational materials.
  • Passion for discovery and deterrence of insurance fraud.
  • Potential to be a leader amongst peers in project management and team advancement.
  • Demonstrate analytical thinking and innovative critical thinking skills.
  • Creative thinking with ability to seek and/or create innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to acquire and compile information, develop opinions and clearly express decisions using sound reasoning and judgment.
  • Able to drive an automobile, possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain a driving record consistent with the Company’s underwriting guidelines.
