Position Summary
Guggenheim is seeking an exceptional candidate to join as a sell-side Equity Research Analyst to help cover the Life Sciences Tools & Diagnostics sector. This person will be responsible for following the progress of public/private Life Sciences Tools & Diagnostics companies and will support the research team in its efforts to analyze companies and make stock recommendations to institutional investor clients. In addition to excellent writing skills, financial modeling capabilities, and communication skills, the ideal candidate will most importantly be a team player with excellent communication and time management skills. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a willingness to conduct ongoing independent market research and generate innovative project ideas, and to communicate research findings in written and oral communications. The position is located in Boston or New York City.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide support to the Senior Analyst through fundamental analysis and investment research in equity markets with an emphasis on original, bottoms-up research in the Life Sciences Tools & Diagnostics sector, including specialty laboratories, bioprocessing companies, and other laboratory tools providers
- Analyze individual Life Sciences Tools & Diagnostics companies to create initiation decks and to build and maintain financial and valuation models
- Write time-sensitive research reports covering company earnings reports, breaking news, and relevant industry/macro updates
- Conduct primary research and due diligence through desktop research, company management meetings, industry conferences, and KOL interviews; produce proprietary research reports based on this research and due diligence
- Organize calls for Senior Analyst & team members with clients, companies, and KOLs
- Build and maintain relationships with the Firm’s institutional sales force and other key firm stakeholders
- Support Senior Analyst in responding to client requests and questions
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in modeling financial statements and conducting valuation analysis
- Understanding of and genuine interest in the Life Sciences Tools & Diagnostics sector and the public equity markets
- Foundational knowledge of basic biological concepts to support scientific and medical publication research and analysis
- Outstanding analytical skills and the ability to conduct deep primary research and synthesize conclusions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas and information in a clear manner
- A genuinely team-oriented attitude and understanding that when the team succeeds, we all succeed
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; self-starter with a proven commitment to producing high quality work and an intrinsic desire to be the best of the best

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a life sciences and/or finance major
- Business degree (CFA / MBA) preferred, but not required
- 1 – 3 years of relevant experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Must have or obtain FINRA SIE, 63, 86, and 87 licenses within 6 months of hire
Work Location
- Currently, this role is expected to be in the Boston or New York office at least 4 days per week.
Salary
- Annual base salary between $100,000 and $110,000.
- The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
