Job Description:
The Events Planner II is responsible for planning and executing internal and/or external events, which may include meetings, road shows, incentive conferences, stakeholder events and experience-based marketing programs. The Events Planner II acts as a consultant to the business on all aspects of event planning in support of the business strategy.
Depth & Scope:
- Experienced working event planning professional role providing specialized business services, advisory or processes/program support within their own area of specialty
- Requires experienced, conceptual and practical knowledge within their own specialty and knowledge of broader related areas
- Conducts event planning research and provides insights to drive recommendations/solutions for event planning development for assigned area
- Accountable for own work and provides support to more junior roles; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area
- Identifies and leads problem resolution, provides clarity and interpretation of complex policies and rules
- Leads projects or work streams within broader projects with moderate risk and may be accountable for managing ongoing activities, processes and functional programs
- Works within broad guidelines/policies and independently performs tasks from end-to-end
- Solves moderately complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions
- Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
- Conveys business context when providing guidance within field of specialty to internal or external stakeholders
- Work is performed under minimal management guidance and supervision
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree
- 3+ years relevant experience
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, including intermediate skills in Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote
- Experience working within a marketing department with a basic understanding of general marketing practices and principles
- Advanced understanding of digital marketing terms, processes and tools
- Experience working with industry-accepted Strategic Meeting Management Platforms
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets more than $500,000 total
- Experience obtaining city permits (fire, building and special events)
- Experience developing and delivering onsite, remote and virtual events
- Intermediate verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- Familiarity with industry-accepted ticket management platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in planning and executing events from start to end
- Experience in workplace services, hospitality, events, facilities coordination, or a customer‑focused operational environment preferred
- Experience working in an on‑site, service‑oriented setting is an asset
Customer Accountabilities:
- Provides professional support in the design, development and execution of various internal/external events: meetings, road shows, conferences, stakeholder events and programs for assigned business area(s) or function
- Plans and supports the delivery of events organized and ensures alignment with business strategy and TD brand, may negotiate contracts and review clauses, as appropriate
- Monitors and understands industry trends, identifies issues and opportunities and provides recommended action to appropriate stakeholders, gathers and integrates information and researches to support the development of future events
- Ensures the TD brand is incorporated and protected during the events organized
- Participates in evaluating the effectiveness of the planned event after execution; compiles and analyzes feedback from various internal/external attendees and/or partners
- Provides functional/business level communications on event planning activities to ensure messages to stakeholders and/or internal/external partners are consistent, appropriate and aligned to business strategies and management direction
Shareholder Accountabilities:
- Ensures events and programs are well managed, meet business needs, comply with internal and external requirements and align with business priorities
- Supports budget development and manages all aspects of expenditures for related events
- Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate
- Knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keeps abreast of emerging trends for own business and/or functional area
- Protects the interests of the organization – identifies and manages risks, and escalates non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary
- Conducts internal and external projects; supports the development/delivery of presentations/communications to management or broader audience
- Conducts reporting and/or meaningful analysis at the business or functional level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations and assess the effectiveness of programs/policies/practices
- Identifies, recommends and effectively executes standard practices applicable to the discipline
- Adheres to internal policies/procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines
