The job of General Merchandise and Food Sales teams is to lead inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas of the store. This team leads inventory accuracy, setting salesfloor merchandise, and pricing processes for all areas of the store. As General Merchandise Sales Executive Team Leader, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day most likely will include the following responsibilities:
Build and manage a team that executes tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
Build and manage a team that executes inventory accuracy, salesfloor merchandise setup and pricing processes for all areas of the store.
Drive total store sales, demonstrate how you, your team and your departments contribute to and impact total store profitability.
Model creating a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you and your team are completing your daily tasks.
Demonstrate how to engage with guests when assistance is needed, engage with guests in a welcoming way and help solve their specific needs.
Lead by thanking guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
Plan, manage, assess and validate best practices to determine operational opportunities.
Create, lead, and model a culture of executing all best practices as outlined with team onboarding, learning, and required training; help close skill gaps through development, coaching and team interactions.
Develop and coach your Team Leaders to elevate the skills and expertise of the team.
Establish and maintain a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
Develop a strategy and utilize your workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring you are guest ready at all times.
Know and assess the competition; leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice for our guests.
Create a scheduling plan with information based on monthly and weekly business workload and guest traffic patterns.
Lead prioritization and conduct regular check-ins with your team to guide appropriate completion of tasks and workload given resources and priorities.
Lead the understanding of how operational procedures, impact shortage, profitability, in store replenishment, inventory and pricing accuracy including adherence to regulatory compliance.
Enable efficient delivery to our guests by leading pick, pack and ship fulfillment work (if applicable) efficiently and accurately to deliver on each guest promise time.
Oversee all GM backroom and sales floor areas, review all reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve including completion validation.
Anticipate short-term and long-term staffing needs and manage talent planning and recruitment.
Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences.
Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, and compliance; lead team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment.
Develop and lead the safety culture and performance of the department through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, holding team accountable to following safety. expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting/investigating injuries timely and accurately.
Lead an instore security culture by focusing on deterrence, response and resolution in order to improve physical security processes.
Lead merchandise protection strategies across the total store; including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practices.
As a key carrier, exercise good judgment and implement all safe and secure training and processes
Addressing all store emergency and compliance needs
All other duties based on business needs

4-year degree or equivalent experience
