The primary purpose of this position is to serve as only Wing Executive Services Specialist, providing comprehensive administrative and executive support to the Wing Commander, Vice Commander, and other senior leaders.

Major Duties:

  • Serves as the only executive advisor on administrative programs and initiatives. Plans and organizes executive support services, functions, and activities. Focal point for and provides quality control review of civilian and military personnel management activities to include training, performance appraisals, awards and decorations and other related areas. Manages the Wing Commander's and/or Vice Commander's calendar, scheduling appointments, meetings, and events, resolving conflicts and prioritizing commitments based on mission requirements and leadership priorities.

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) knowledge of management and organization principles and theories, including standardized administrative practices and procedures common to the organization or area of responsibility; (2) knowledge of administrative practices and procedures common to organizations, including areas of responsibility, channels of communication, delegation of authority, routing of correspondence, filing Systems, and Storage of files and records; (3) knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques for identifying, considering, and resolving procedural or factual issues; (4) knowledge of written guidelines covering work methods and procedures, including performance and production standards. OR EDUCATION: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of rules, procedures, and operational assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, maintaining files/records, screen telephone calls and visitors, maintain supervisor's calendar, making and preparing travel arrangements, locating, assembling and composing information for various reports, inquiries, and non-technical correspondence. 2. Knowledge in written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate correspondence, reports, and briefings. 3. Skill in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, and other relevant software applications. 4. Skill in thinking critically by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. 5. Skill in managing complex schedules and coordinating logistics. 6. Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise independent judgement. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
