About the Role
We are looking for a Journal Executive Publisher to oversee a portfolio of journals in the energy and earth sciences; and take project oversight of select initiatives and projects in the team. The role is full time and based out of one of our key publishing offices in China, with support for hybrid working arrangements.
Responsibilities
Journal development: you will balance maintaining the superior performance of a portfolio of titles with supporting goals around accelerated growth of content, with strong willingness in driving business development in the Chinese market
Teamwork: you will work closely with colleagues to help deliver on collaborative projects and goals. You will also be a mentor and coach to team members;
Editor appointments: you will carefully manage new editor appointments and ensure your journals have editorial structures that are diverse and dynamic;
Community engagement: you will engage with customers through careful relationship-management and regular communication. You will share customer insight with the team to help us provide products and services that your community wants;
Brand visibility: you will improve the visibility of your journal brands and our company tools and services through effective outreach and keeping an eye on the competition;
Project management: you will champion select initiatives in the team, following up on actions and recommendations and ensuring team engagement and delivery.
Requirements
Fluent bilingual (English & Chinese) speaker with good communication skills is essential;
Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing colleagues to build high-performing teams is essential;
Strategic thinker with the ability to set direction, make decisions, and drive initiatives that support journal growth and development is essential;
Minimum education to bachelor degree level is essential. An educational background in a related field is welcome but not essential;
Significant work experience in publishing required;
Pro-active, good negotiating and interpersonal skills; flexible, adaptable;
Ability to work efficiently and productively with colleagues and customers at various levels, in various locations, and from diverse cultures, and be a role model for others;
A can-do attitude and team-oriented approach are essential for success.
