The Opportunity

As a pivotal Executive Operational Planning Director, you will be a strategic force within the Property & Casualty President’s Office, reporting to the Chief of Staff Director. This high-impact role is designed for an extraordinary performer with exceptional financial acumen and a proven ability to analyze, understand, and influence critical business decisions. You will spearhead core business routines, manage complex executive deliverables, and curate essential Board materials, all while ensuring meticulous data validation and narrative alignment. You will drive critical business decisions through sophisticated executive-level reporting and financial insights, translating complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership and boards. Furthermore, you will masterfully orchestrate complex programs and portfolios from conception to completion, leveraging industry-recognized methodologies to deliver strategic objectives. As a dynamic, forward-thinking individual, you will proactively solve problems, anticipate challenges, and develop robust mitigation strategies, navigating ambiguity and pivoting rapidly to meet evolving priorities. Your deep P&C insurance domain expertise, honed through 3+ years of direct experience, will enable informed strategic recommendations and operational improvements. You will command attention and drive consensus through compelling, concise communication tailored for executive audiences, expertly influencing stakeholders to secure buy-in and advance key initiatives. We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX.

What you'll do:

  • Facilitate strategic and operational planning and implementation processes to ensure that management is knowledgeable of process, goals, objectives and strategies.

  • Lead the coordination and documentation of progress toward achievement of business goals, objectives, strategies and action plan results.

  • In partnership with Corporate Communications and the Chief of Staff team, define and set objectives and content of messages to be communicated in concert with EMG and/ or the Executive Council member's guidance, corporate mission and objectives, as well as the objectives of employee, member, and public communications.

  • Evaluate and influence relevance of messages for intended audience and ensure consistency and accuracy for communication efforts across the team; identifies and implements innovative communication tactics.

  • Provide advice and guidance and negotiate approval of deliverable materials with executive management and subject-matter experts prior to securing final approval from senior executive or Executive Council member.

  • Support and advise management through research and analysis of internal/external business data including industry best practices and competitive information.

  • Responsible for the development, coordination and timely submission of relevant EC and Board/Council/Committee driven requirements.

  • Provide oversight and support to project teams in development and implementation of employee CoSA events and business conferences.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures. ​

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree: OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 8 years’ project/program management experience supporting senior level executives, corporate event planning and/or managing executive level communications.

  • Ability to build strong relationships and to work at all levels within the organization.

  • Experience developing executive level briefings in support of EC, CEO and BoD deliverables.

  • Experience in Committee / Executive meeting preparation and facilitation.

  • Demonstrated capability to navigate in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks with competing deadlines, and demonstrate forward-thinking and planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate positively with executive leadership (C-Suite) and communicate complex concepts clearly.

  • Demonstrated capability to navigate in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines.

  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create executive level presentations and develop process documentation. ​

What sets you apart:

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

  • Program/Project/Product Management: Training or certifications from PMI, PMLG, and/or college/university degrees and certificates or equivalent work experience.

  • Highly Proactive and Adaptable: Proven ability to manage complex projects under pressure. Demonstrated exceptional foresight in planning and risk mitigation, possess the critical thinking skills to navigate ambiguous directives and rapidly changing priorities, excel at executing tasks effectively to meet stringent deadlines.

  • P&C Insurance Expertise: Possesses strong P&C business acumen with a deep understanding of the value chain, demonstrated by 3 or more years of prior P&C experience

  • Executive Communication & Influence: Proven ability to influence, facilitate, and manage communication effectively with senior executives, delivering clear and concise summaries of complex information.

  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: A team champion who actively motivates, fosters collaboration, helps overcome obstacles, and drives outcomes in a matrixed environment.

  • Executive Reporting & Operational Oversight: Experience in reporting executive-level business performance results, leading executive-level communications, and ability to develop Executive Council and Board level presentations.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $114,080.00 - $205,340.00.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

 

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
