The Importance of the Role

The Executive Medical Director, Head of Global Real-World Evidence & Clinical Epidemiology is a senior physician-scientist leader responsible for shaping and executing an integrated real world evidence strategy across Sarepta’s portfolio.  This role ensures that medical insight, epidemiologic understanding, and real-world evidence are aligned to inform clinical development, regulatory strategy, safety evaluation, payer value demonstration, and lifecycle management.  Serving as a core leader within cross-functional governance, the role bridges Development, Medical Affairs, Safety, Regulatory, and Customer teams to generate credible, stakeholder-relevant real-world evidence that strengthens differentiation, reimbursement readiness, and patient impact.

The Opportunity to Make a Difference

  • Medical & Integrated Real World Evidence Strategy
  • Provide leadership for global real world evidence generation strategies spanning early development through post-launch lifecycle stages
  • Ensure clinical relevance is embedded across RWE and epidemiology programs
  • Partner with Clinical Development for natural history insights, and real-world evidence with unmet medical need and differentiation strategy
  • Translate disease understanding and treatment impact into coherent medical narratives supporting regulatory, payer, and scientific engagement
  • Real-World Evidence Strategy & Execution
  • Establish and lead enterprise RWE strategy supporting effectiveness, safety, utilization, adherence, and economic outcomes
  • Oversee RWE studies leveraging claims, EHRs, post hoc analysis and other RWD
  • Advance innovative methodologies including causal inference, target trial emulation, hybrid trial designs, and digital biomarkers
  • Implement governance frameworks ensuring scientific rigor, transparency, and regulatory credibility of RWE programs and studies
  • Actively develop publication and other communication plans for new RW evidence
  • Clinical Epidemiology & Disease Understanding
  • Lead clinical epidemiology strategy supporting development, safety, and value decision-making
  • Oversee incidence, prevalence, morbidity, mortality, and real world burden-of-illness analyses, particularly in rare disease populations
  • Direct natural history studies, systematic literature reviews, and predictive disease modeling
  • Provide epidemiologic expertise for pharmacovigilance, safety assessments, and regulatory documentation
  • Scientific Leadership & External Engagement
  • Serve as a recognized RWE thought leader internally and externally
  • Build strategic collaborations with academia, data partners, and patient groups
  • Lead publication strategy advancing disease understanding, methodological innovation, and treatment value as it relates to RWE and clinical epidemiology
  • Represent the organization in advisory boards, regulatory interactions, and scientific forums as required
  • Cross-Functional & Organizational Leadership
  • Serve as a core member of global program teams and governance bodies shaping development and commercialization strategy
  • Provide oversight of research budgets, vendors, and evidence governance processes
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen integration of medical insight and evidence generation across the organization

More about You

  • MD required; additional graduate training in epidemiology, public health, health economics, or related field strongly preferred
  • ~15+ years of biopharmaceutical experience with Medical Affairs, HEOR, RWE, epidemiology, or related fields
  • Demonstrated leadership of global real world evidence generation programs across development and post-launch stages
  • Experience engaging regulators, HTA bodies, payers, and academic collaborators
  • Strong publication and scientific leadership track record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in rare and specialty disease a plus
  • Advanced methodological expertise in RWE and causal inference
  • Experience integrating AI/data science approaches into evidence generation and digital measurement strategies
  • Proven success building multidisciplinary evidence generation organizations

This position is hybrid, you will be expected to work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.

The targeted salary range for this position is $313,200 - $391,500 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
