About the Role:

We are seeking an Executive Manager, Risk and Compliance to lead the continued development, implementation and oversight of robust enterprise-wide risk and compliance frameworks.

The role is critical to ensuring that strategic and operational risks are identified, assessed and managed in line with Board-approved risk appetite, and that The Salvation Army remains compliant with all relevant legislative, regulatory and industry requirements. Reporting to the Head of Audit and Risk and leading five direct reports you will work across the national organisation to embed risk-aware, compliant and sustainable practices that support our mission.

This is a permanent, full time, vacancy based in Blackburn, Melbourne with hybrid/flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, including resilience and business continuity planning
  • Develop and maintain a risk-based Compliance Framework aligned with regulatory and legislative requirements
  • Oversee operational level risk and legislative compliance assessing organisational impacts
  • Develop and continually enhance the Environmental Sustainability Framework
  • Oversee the development, review and continual improvement of risk and compliance policies and procedures
  • Provide expert advice on risk management, compliance, and insurance matters across the organisation
  • Oversee the insurance portfolio and support annual renewals and ongoing coverage optimisation.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and be seen as a trusted risk advisor to the organisation  

About You:

  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, economics, risk management or a related discipline
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field (highly regarded)
  • 10+ years professional experience in internal audit, risk management, compliance and business continuity planning
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide frameworks in large or complex organisations
  • Strong commercial acumen with exposure to IT/cyber & GRC systems (experience with Protecht highly advantageous)
  • A mission-driven leader who fosters a positive team culture, guiding teams through periods and change and growth
  • Ability to liaise with and influence at all levels including senior/executive stakeholders
