Executive Director, Trade Market Planning - Fully Remote

Position Summary

CVS Health is looking for an Executive Director, Trade Market Planning to lead the development and delivery of insights and analysis across the spectrum of internal Trade initiatives and external market events.  This leader will assess and recommend Trade strategies and provide strategic advisory on pharmaceutical industry trends/events, PBM client pricing strategies, and state market conduct examinations.  This position is fully remote and supports a work-from-home arrangement.

Major Responsibilities

  • Administers and actively fosters the development of the business intelligence and analytics function to successfully enhance the company's competitive advantage in the industry.

  • Provides strategic recommendations based on data insights, competitive intelligence, policy trends, and market assessments.

  • Develops analyses and establishes mechanisms to understand and monitor Trade and pharmaceutical manufacturer impact of internal initiatives or external market events.

  • Provides thought leadership and guidance on emerging analytic trends, industry intelligence, and public policy implications, communicating with a wide range of business leaders across the organization.

  • Develops enterprise-wide economic assessments to advise Trade executive leadership on business decisions.

  • Oversees teams that advise on Trade implications of PBM client pricing strategies, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to address client needs and requests.

  • Leads processes and recommends Trade strategies to capitalize on formulary or economic opportunities.

  • Manages and optimizes analytics processes, leveraging data for strategic planning, and guiding teams in delivering actionable insights to drive business outcomes.

  • Manages team performance through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional services and engagement, motivation, and team development.

Qualifications

The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position offers broad exposure to all aspects of the company’s business, as well as significant interaction with executive leaders across the PBM. The candidate will be expected to have the following key attributes:

  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical strategy or analytics, with deep knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturer pricing, access dynamics, and market trends.

  • Proven ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable business strategies.

  • Strong background in competitive intelligence, policy impact assessment, and developing frameworks to monitor trade and manufacturer dynamics.

  • In-depth understanding of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and trade industry trends, regulatory environments, and market access strategies.

  • Demonstrated success in leading analytics functions and cross-functional strategic initiatives within complex, matrixed organizations.

  • Exceptional leadership skills to build and develop high-performing teams, influence stakeholders, and foster collaboration across competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to present insights and influence decision-making at all levels.

  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to align multiple stakeholders toward shared goals.

  • Proven team leadership experience - leadership skills to build high-performing teams, manage and develop talent, influence, and impact a broad set of stakeholders, engage, and inspire others, and lead by example.

  • Exceptional relationship management skills across highly matrixed organizations, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and foster collaboration.

  • Ability to influence and align multiple stakeholders toward shared goals.

  • Excellent communication and executive presence; ability to influence at all levels.

  • Demonstrated experience working with data to develop analytics solutions.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred/specialized training/relevant professional qualification.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$131,500.00 - $303,195.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
