Job Overview

The Executive Assistant, School of Health – Georgetown University serves as the primary administrative and operational support resource for the Dean. The Executive Assistant actualizes these responsibilities through executive level technical and soft skill capabilities. The role requires mature judgement and anticipation of stakeholder needs. The Executive Assistant is a strategic partner to the Dean and School of Health leadership team.

This position exists to provide high-level executive support that enables the Dean to focus on advancing the mission and goals of the School of Health. The Executive Assistant manages the Dean’s complex calendar, prepares materials and briefings for meetings, oversees communications, and ensures seamless coordination across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.  Through strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, the Executive Assistant ensures that the Dean’s Office operates efficiently, proactively addresses emerging needs, and contributes to the overall effectiveness and success of the School.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the Dean’s daily schedule, appointments, meetings, and travel logistics to ensure efficient and timely operations.

  • Serve as a trusted partner to the Dean by providing proactive administrative and strategic support in advancing school initiatives.

  • Oversee office operations, including expense processing, document preparation, and policy development to support effective workflows.

  • Coordinate and staff meetings, events, and school-wide gatherings, ensuring proper logistics, materials, and follow-up.

  • Research, prepare briefing materials, and draft communications to support informed decision-making by the Dean and senior leadership.

  • Provide general administrative and operational support for special projects and emerging priorities within the School of Health.

Work Interactions

The Executive Assistant serves as a critical liaison between the Dean and faculty, staff, and students; alumni and families; advancement, general counsel, MedStar Health; and professional organizations. The incumbent must exercise broad and comprehensive knowledge of the University’s and School of Health’s policies and operations to perform highly confidential duties. These duties require discretion, judgment, tact, and poise. This position typically receives general supervision.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related experience required, (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).

  • Proven experience as an executive assistant or other relevant administrative support experience.

  • Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, Zoom, and Google Workspaces.

  • Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities.

  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment.

  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.

  • Professional level verbal and written communications skills.

 

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher education, nonprofit, or similarly complex organizational environment.

  • Prior experience supporting a dean, department chair, or senior academic leader.

  • Experience planning and managing events ranging from small meetings to school-wide or public gatherings.

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as Hybrid with at least 3 full in-person workdays per week. Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
