About the job
The Executive Assistant reports through Skylight and collaborates closely with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) staff to keep projects organized, aligned, and on track. The role supports the Chief Data Officer’s Office at the HHS by managing communications, scheduling, and coordination for a high-impact modernization effort. The Executive Assistant helps keep complex data and technology initiatives running efficiently as part of a broader mission to improve how the government serves people.
HHS is launching one of the most ambitious transformations in government — and this is a rare chance to be part of it. You’ll join a high-impact team of product managers, researchers, designers, engineers, and security experts at Skylight working side-by-side with HHS leadership to modernize the systems people rely on to access healthcare, strengthen cybersecurity that protects personal data, launch digital services used by tens of millions every day, and integrate data and AI responsibly into daily work across the department so teams at every level can make smarter, safer decisions. The Executive Assistant will collaborate closely with HHS stakeholders and operate in alignment with agency processes while remaining an active member of the Skylight team and under Skylight’s management.
What you’ll do
- Provide administrative assistance to the Skylight team, the Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO), and other HHS staff members
- Serve as a primary point of contact for office correspondence and communications, including monitoring and managing shared mailboxes related to contract deliverables
- Contribute to and manage the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the OCDO, ensuring compliance with established office policies and procedures
- Schedule and manage appointments, meetings, conference calls, and conference room reservations
- Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and distribute follow-up action items to ensure effective communication and accountability across teams
- Organize and maintain digital filing systems
- Create, edit, and proofread documents, reports, and presentations related to contract deliverables
- Manage data entry and update records in databases or spreadsheets to support program operations
- Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information
- Coordinate communication between divisions to ensure smooth workflows
- Relay messages and updates to staff as needed
- Coordinate schedules and priorities related to OCDO-led modernization initiatives in collaboration with Skylight and HHS staff
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
- Adapt to changing priorities and handle unexpected challenges efficiently

Minimum qualifications
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain order in a busy office environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with staff, clients, and vendors
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation, scheduling, and administrative work
- Proficiency with office software such as Microsoft Office Suite and other collaboration tools
- Professional and approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to problem solve proactively and identify practical solutions
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work successfully within a professional services environment (e.g., can communicate effectively with clients)
- Passion for creating better public outcomes through great government services

Nice-to-have qualifications
- Experience in or familiarity with government, public sector, or large mission-driven organizations
- Understanding of IT, digital transformation, or cybersecurity concepts

Other requirements
- All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories. Some federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment.

- As a government contractor, you may be required to obtain a public trust or security clearance.
- You may be required to complete a company background check successfully.
- Some of our available roles are on federal contracts that require a degree or additional years of experience as a substitute.
Position type
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Location
This role requires working on site in Washington, DC, five days a week. Candidates based in the DC area should be able to work on site at HHS.
Care package
Salary
We want to give you the most competitive salary possible. After all, you deserve it! To that end, we use the results of our interview process to determine what salary is most appropriate given your current level of seniority. For an Executive Assistant based out of Washington DC, the current salary range at Skylight is : $90,000–$120,000.
