Job Description
 

This role leads a team within Portfolio Strategy & Analytics (PS&A) at Gilead, with accountability for PS&A support across all assets and therapeutic areas. This role ensures consistent, high‑quality strategic, analytical, and decision support across the portfolio. This leader will develop and lead a team that partners closely with Gilead Asset Teams (GATs) and Development & Evidence Teams (DETs), while serving as a senior strategic partner to multiple groups and leaders across the company, including the Team System Office, Global Project Management, and Therapeutic Area (TA) Heads to align portfolio processes, tools, platforms, and ways of working.

This role will be accountable for PS&A‑led enterprise processes that directly enable teams, including lifecycle planning and options development and evaluation, ensuring consistent standards, and capability building across the organization. This leader will play a key role on the PS&A leadership team and report to the VP of PS&A.

This is a site base role at our global headquarters in Foster City, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a PS&A team, supporting assets across the enterprise portfolio

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high‑performing talent

  • Build strong analytical, partnership, and influence capabilities across the team

  • Guide leaders and teams in framing options, risks, trade‑offs, and decision points aligned with enterprise strategy

  • Ensure consistent, high‑quality analytics, planning, and decision support for GATs and DETs

  • Ensure timely delivery of recurring and ad hoc insights to leadership and governance forums

  • Oversee asset‑level PS&A analyses within broader portfolio context to support strategic decisions

  • Partner with the organizations such as the Team System Office and Global Project Management to align on portfolio processes and team deliverables

  • Act as a senior thought partner to cross‑functional leaders on portfolio and asset‑level decisions. Drive continuous improvement in partnership with enterprise stakeholders

  • Own PS&A enterprise development and roll-out of PS&A processes, including lifecycle planning and options development and evaluation

  • Sponsor initiatives to evolve PS&A team support methodologies, systems, tools, and analytics platforms

  • Drive knowledge sharing, best‑practice development, and capability building across PS&A and partners

Requirements

  • MA/MS/MBA or PhD with 14+ years of relevant experience in life sciences, or BA/BS with 16+ years of relevant experience

  • 5+ years of strategic portfolio analysis and insights experience

  • Extensive experience leading complex, cross‑functional and enterprise‑level initiatives

  • Experience building and leading processes and change management with complex teams

  • Strong track record delivering analyses that inform portfolio‑wide and asset‑level decisions

  • Deep expertise in biopharma portfolio strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders across functions, assets, and governance forums

  • Strong executive presence with experience leading enterprise processes and change initiatives


 

The salary range for this position is: $302,005.00 - $390,830.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
