Job Description

PURPOSE: 

The Evidence Generation Manager co-develops the strategic evidence generation plans with the medical leads and is responsible for translating this strategy into real-world evidence (RWE) studies –while partnering with internal and external stakeholders to lead the studies through from study design to completion.

KEY JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Work collaboratively with local medical and cross-functional team members to develop strategic RWE plans for priority pipeline and portfolio assets, that are aligned with brand strategies, the Takeda global integrated Evidence Plan (iEP), and external stakeholders’ evidence needs

  • Design and Implement non-interventional studies that are aligned to local strategic plans and external stakeholder needs, leading study teams from study concept through to completion:  

    • Contribute methodological and strategic expertise to study design, concept & protocol development, incorporating innovative study designs and technological innovations, as applicable, (ex. Natural Language Processing (NLP, AI), synthetic data)

    • Liaise with local, regional and global partners to manage the review and approval of concepts and protocols, including attending global review meetings

    • Contribute to publications and manage the publication process

    • Lead vendor/contract research organization (CRO) selection and oversight, ensuring data integrity and quality, and compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations – while incorporating technological innovations to increase efficiency, if applicable.

  • Identify and Engage in Strategic Scientific Partnerships with external research partners

  • Contribute to Evidence Generation operational excellence by developing and implementing processes and technology tools to improve effectiveness and efficiency, and support best practices.

  • Contribute to internal education and training to build knowledge & skills for RWE capabilities within Takeda

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficiency related to innovative tools used in Evidence Generation, such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), synthetic data, AI algorithms, cloud-based data platforms and data engineering concepts

Occupational Knowledge and Skills

  • Subject matter expertise on different types of RWD studies, appropriate RWD study design methodology for the research question and analytic methods, including new innovative study designs and AI-enabled options for extracting RW health data

  • strong understanding of evidence requirements from a regulatory and heath technology assessment (HTA) / payer perspective throughout a product lifecycle, and how to translate those stakeholder needs into real-world evidence initiatives.

  • Knowledge of private and public real-world data (RWD) sources in Canada, and how to effectively access those data sources; familiarity with governance and privacy guidelines and ethical considerations for data access.

  • Knowledge of relevant Canadian CROs/vendors for evidence generation projects; proven  experience in vendor evaluation and oversight.

  • Dedication to leading by example through intentional skill development, experimentation and fostering a culture of digital curiosity within the organization.

  • Proficiency in leveraging digital tools, platforms, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technologies

  • Understanding of cybersecurity threats and privacy and security requirements and best practices to protect sensitive information and systems.

  • Prior experience in driving digital transformation initiatives, showcasing a strategic mindset towards technology innovation and integration with daily work practices.  

  • Experience using R, Python, STATA, Databricks, or other programming and analytics platforms is preferred.


EDUCATION, LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum requirement is a Bachelor Degree in a science-related field with a strong preference for Masters in Health Economics / Outcomes Research, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Data Analysis or other similar area of academic discipline.

  • A minimum of 2 years of primary or secondary research experience, including research project management in the pharmaceutical industry or related health care industry.

  • Experience in electronic health record / database analysis, health economics / outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence generation is preferred.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a head-office based position in Toronto, Canada.

  • Willingness to travel within Canada; some international travel may be required

Base Salary Range:

$127,000.00 - $173,800.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
