Our Meeting and Event team delivers high‑quality meetings, conferences, and special events for John Hancock Insurance in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. We are part of the broader US Insurance Marketing organization—collaborating across brand, human‑centered design, digital strategy, analytics, and production—to shape our marketing narrative and create seamless customer experiences. Together, we bring events to life that reinforce our value and support key business goals.

As an Events Specialist, you'll be responsible for meeting the needs of our internal and external clients while leveraging opportunities to independently share the John Hancock story for education, activation, or incentive purposes. Reporting to the Director of Meetings and Events, you'll play a key role in delivering top-notch service for meetings, conferences, and special events. Your responsibilities will include on-site coordination, execution, budget tracking, event registration, and managing external vendors.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Support event planning/meeting management team on Insurance Distribution events as assigned. Coordination and producing complete management information itineraries for delegates attending meetings, conferences, and special events. The accuracy and detail of the management reports are crucial to the execution and success of every event.

  • Use Cvent to set up meeting/conference registration forms and websites.  Processing of registration information, including system input and liaison with external travel partners to coordinate airline travel for attendees.

  • Produce hotel reports including room type, arrival/departure dates, room credit, special requirements, etc. and generate arrival/departure manifests and meeting/conference tour reports.

  • Prepare confirmation emails for attendees including details of hotel accommodation, arrival information and any other supporting information.

  • Preparation of attendee information kits including business agenda, transportation details, name badge and relevant materials.

  • Track and maintain budgets for events

  • Prepare exhibitor booths and materials for industry meetings and conferences

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous event planning experience

  • Experience with Cvent and a working knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT, MS Forms. Ability to learn new technology and applications.

  • Understanding and embracing our company values throughout all stages of event management and support, engaging with colleagues, and creating partnerships

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent organization, communication and time management skills

  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible and move from one priority to another while maintaining a high level of accuracy and the ability to work independently and under pressure during peak periods

  • This role may require limited occasional travel

Salary range is expected to be between

$61,875.00 USD - $103,125.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
