What will you do? 

  • Ensure that all import and export activities align with applicable laws and regulations, minimizing the risk of fines and penalties. 

  • Classify products accurately according to commodity codes and Dual-Use regulations. 

  • Facilitate import transactions, including coordinating imports from outside the EU/UK and providing classification details and instructions to freight forwarders. 

  • Collaborate with internal departments and functions to ensure trade compliance procedures are updated and consistently followed. 

  • Liaise and consult with internal and external customers to provide guidance and support on trade compliance matters. 

  • Support the company’s compliance program by participating in internal and external audits. 

  • Lead communications and activities related to external customs audits, including collaborating closely with customs authorities. 

  • Promote trade compliance awareness across the business through training and guidance initiatives. 

How will you get here? 

  • Strong knowledge of commodity code classification, with a minimum of 2–3 years’ experience classifying a wide range of goods and product families. 

  • Confirmed experience in import and export operations within a distribution or manufacturing environment. 

  • Proficient in managing partnerships, demonstrating effective communication with both internal and external clients. 

  • Experience working with customs authorities. 

  • Familiarity with export licensing procedures.

  • Ability to work with and influence various organizational levels, establishing positive working relationships 

  • Capability to stay up-to-date with the constantly evolving landscape of trade regulations, tariffs, and sanctions imposed by various countries
