Santander is looking for an EU Affairs Specialist based in Brussels.
We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:
Coordinate cross-European public policy activities and align with global stakeholders (EU and non-EU teams)
Develop and implement strategic advocacy plans based on regulatory priorities and stakeholder mapping
Monitor, analyze, and report regulatory developments leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency
Organize and execute high-level meetings and strategic events with key institutional stakeholders
Build and maintain strong relationships with EU institutions, policymakers, and relevant ecosystem actors
Enhance the organization’s visibility and influence through participation in industry associations, think tanks, and advocacy initiatives
Define and execute stakeholder engagement strategies targeting key decision-makers and influencers
Prepare high-quality briefings, reports, and materials to support advocacy and institutional positioning

Professional Experience
5 years of experience working with financial regulation
Previous experience working as a regulator / supervisor will be highly valued
Experience in advocacy, lobbying and campaigning.
Education
Requires a bachelor’s degree
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of economics, law, international relations, the financial system and the interaction of those with regulation
Languages
English: Advanced level (C1)
Spanish: Fluent level
Soft Skills
He/she should be an empathic person, able to engage with very different kind of stakeholders; passionate and be able to motivate teams and used to work under pressure and take quick decisions
The candidate must have strategic thinking: ability to analyze complex problems, anticipate future trends, think critically, make sound decisions under uncertainty, effectively prioritize tasks, and communicate their vision clearly to others
