THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

Santander is looking for an EU Affairs Specialist based in Brussels.

We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate cross-European public policy activities and align with global stakeholders (EU and non-EU teams)

  • Develop and implement strategic advocacy plans based on regulatory priorities and stakeholder mapping

  • Monitor, analyze, and report regulatory developments leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency

  • Organize and execute high-level meetings and strategic events with key institutional stakeholders

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with EU institutions, policymakers, and relevant ecosystem actors

  • Enhance the organization’s visibility and influence through participation in industry associations, think tanks, and advocacy initiatives

  • Define and execute stakeholder engagement strategies targeting key decision-makers and influencers

  • Prepare high-quality briefings, reports, and materials to support advocacy and institutional positioning

Professional Experience

  • 5 years of experience working with financial regulation

  • Previous experience working as a regulator / supervisor will be highly valued

  • Experience in advocacy, lobbying and campaigning.

Education

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree

  • The ideal candidate must have knowledge of economics, law, international relations, the financial system and the interaction of those with regulation

Languages

  • English: Advanced level (C1)

  • Spanish: Fluent level

Soft Skills

  • He/she should be an empathic person, able to engage with very different kind of stakeholders; passionate and be able to motivate teams and used to work under pressure and take quick decisions

  • The candidate must have strategic thinking: ability to analyze complex problems, anticipate future trends, think critically, make sound decisions under uncertainty, effectively prioritize tasks, and communicate their vision clearly to others
