ETF Lead Fund Accountant

Lead Fund Accountant is primarily responsible for the oversight of a fund accountant’s daily workload.  The Lead Fund Accountant is responsible for approving exception cases created by the Fund Accountant for 15-20 funds daily, including the most complex funds of the team. This position is also responsible for all functions related to the daily calculation of the net asset value for one to two assigned funds. This role identifies training needs for the fund accountants as well as identifies any potential issues related to client activity or procedures related to a client.  The Lead Fund Accountant is a key contact with clients on fund issues and acts on behalf of or in the absence of the manager in reviewing critical fund accounting functions/transactions and in preparing reports for clients.  The Lead Fund Accountants are also responsible for testing any new releases to the system and presenting the upgrade features to the Fund Accountants.   Other duties included the following:

  • Independently review or, as needed, perform general ledger accounting functions ensuring compliance with all accounting policies and procedures and in accordance with applicable rules and regulations such as SEC, IRS and GAAP.
  • Oversight of fund accountant’s daily work, including validating exception management cases
  • Oversee general ledger accounting functions for multiple funds
  • Monitor and review preliminary trial balance and NAV calculation for multiple funds
  • Monitor and analyze income and expense accruals to ensure GAAP compliance
  • Analyze corporate action application for GAAP compliance
  • Reconcile cash settlements to the custodian and prime broker records
  • Reconcile position quantity to the custodian and prime broker records
  • Investigate and resolve cash or position discrepancies by collaborating with the custodian, prime brokers, transfer agency, advisor, and/or portfolio managers/traders 
  • Review and resolve trade detail exceptions to ensure transactions are accurately reflected by collaborating with the advisor/portfolio manager or trader.
  • Analyze security pricing exceptions to ensure proper prices are used in the calculation of the NAV
  • Assess potential training needs for the Fund Accountants and provide feedback to the manager regarding Fund Accountant’s performance
  • Identify potential issues and possible solutions for the funds being reviewed
  • Test new releases to the accounting system and present new upgrade features to the Fund Accountants
  • Partner with various internal/external parties to ensure compliance with SEC regulations, IRS, and GAAP reporting regulations
  • Coordinate audit materials as well as responses to audit inquiries
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • You possess Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance, or any combination of education experience that would provide an equivalent background
  • You have at least Six (6) years external Funding accounting or related experience or Five (5) and half years UMB Fund accounting experience

Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST, with Monday to Thursday being in-office and Friday's remote with possible remote work allowed depending on location

Compensation Range:

$76,520.00 - $163,900.00
