PwC’s ESG team is committed to helping organizations drive sustainable transformation and respond to evolving regulatory, investor, and stakeholder expectations. We work with leading local and international clients across multiple sectors, delivering ESG strategies, reporting solutions, and transaction‑related ESG services that create long‑term value.
As an ESG Manager, you will take a leading role in ESG engagements, supporting clients across ESG strategy development, sustainability reporting, regulatory compliance, and ESG due diligence. You will manage project delivery end‑to‑end, work closely with senior client stakeholders, and contribute to the growth and development of PwC’s ESG practice.
What you’ll do
Lead ESG engagements across strategy development, ESG reporting, regulatory readiness, and transaction‑based ESG due diligence.
Manage project delivery end‑to‑end, including planning, resourcing, timelines, budgets, and quality reviews.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, supporting Sustainability, Finance, Risk, Legal, and Operations teams.
Lead ESG reporting engagements, including:
Gap assessments and regulatory compliance assessments
Definition of material ESG topics and non‑financial KPIs
Design and review of ESG disclosures and reports
Support clients in navigating ESG standards and regulations, including CSRD/ESRS, ISSB (IFRS S1/S2), GRI, TCFD, SASB, and Integrated Reporting, as applicable.
Design ESG data, process, and control frameworks, including data availability assessments, ownership, data quality controls, and technology requirements.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative ESG analysis, including market, peer, and internal performance benchmarking.
Deliver targeted ESG “deep dives” on portfolio companies to identify ESG risks, opportunities, and sustainable value‑creation levers.
Provide transaction‑related ESG due diligence support to investors, aligned with local regulatory and market requirements.
Assess ESG‑related risks, including compliance gaps, potential liabilities, and remediation actions.
Contribute to business development, including proposal development, scoping, and identifying follow‑on opportunities.
Coach and develop junior team members and support knowledge sharing across the ESG team.
You will be a great match if you have
Strong knowledge of sustainability and ESG topics, including sustainability reporting standards, regulations, and frameworks.
Experience working with or delivering ESG reporting, regulatory compliance, sustainability strategy, or ESG due diligence projects.
Excellent analytical, structuring, and summarizing skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders.
A proactive, solution‑oriented mindset and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High motivation and passion for sustainability, climate change, and responsible business practices.
Preferred requirements
University degree in business, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
Minimum 3+ years of relevant professional experience, including at least 2 years in ESG consulting, ESG reporting, sustainability, or a related industry role.
Familiarity with ESG reporting standards and regulations (e.g. CSRD/ESRS, ISSB, GRI, TCFD, SASB).
Experience with GHG accounting, carbon footprinting, or Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an advantage.
Experience in transaction services or ESG assurance is a plus.
Fluency in English and Bulgarian; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
