The Hardware Engineering department leads in the mechanical and electrical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

The Engineering Rapid Build Services (ERBS) department within Hardware Engineering is chartered to deliver agile services.  We bridge across Operations and Engineering, providing solutions through the execution of quick-turn procurement and manufacturing.

ERBS is skilled in test equipment and program trainers. ERBS executes prototyping and high-mix/low-rate procurement and fabrication activities with a focus on in-house electro-mechanical packaging, support equipment and liquid cooling systems integration. We strive to minimize cycle times and provide best value through the utilization of dynamic and agile processes.

This role is for a Section Leader of the Engineering Material Operations Section for ERBS in Tucson, AZ.  The purpose of this section is to ensure proper handling of the Test Equipment material stores, engineering plant stock, and engineering materials movement across Raytheon’s Tucson Arizona operations for ERBS and the Bike Shop.

This role is located on-site in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the Test Equipment (TE) Engineering Material and Stores team which consists of 10 to 15 bargaining unit represented Material Handlers and Warehouse Identification Production Specialists (WIPS).

  • Coordinate training, approve timecards, handle schedule modification requests, meet overtime needs, hold regular team meetings, and ensure safety and compliance rules and regulations are followed.

  • Manage TE materials receiving, storage, release, and contract closeout processes in close coordination with the TE Planning and Fabrication teams.

  • Represent Materials Stores on the Engineering Materials Management System (EMMS) Change Control Board (CCB).

  • Manage the department Vehicle Fleet including coordination of vehicle maintenance, registration, DOT compliance, and purchase and rental requests.

  • Champion the use of Engineering Plant Stock across Raytheon, working with TE and other engineering teams to establish the engineering plant stock strategy, managing the engineering plant stock materials, and establishing and maintaining metrics.

  • Support the department as the Rita Road Bike Shop Staff Site Lead, coordinating with the Bike Shop Operations Lead, shop managers, and local lab leadership team to ensure that space utilization and operations are compliant and meet the needs of the department.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.

  • Experience in a materials management, stores/warehouse, and/or logistics role.

  • Experience operating Prism, SAP or/and EMMS.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with team workload management and the ability to balance resources effectively to satisfy demanding internal customers and schedules.

  • Experience interfacing directly with customers in an engineering/manufacturing environment.

  • Experience managing a vehicle fleet including material handling, cargo, and passenger vehicles

  • Ability to manage time and resources to consistently meet demanding schedules.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
