About the Role

THE POSITION
We are currently seeking to recruit an Equity Research Analyst (Analyst) to join our established Small Cap Value Opportunities Portfolio Management team. The team opportunistically invests in US small-cap companies deemed to have an attractive combination of valuation, quality and capital returns. This Analyst will focus on alpha generation through differentiated fundamental research and will operate primarily as a generalist across sectors. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative investment environment and contribute meaningfully to idea generation and security selection.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
The following essential skills are required for the role:
•    VALUE INVESTING ACUMEN AND PASSION – The Analyst will have passion for investing and experience or interest in investing in small cap stocks with a value-oriented style. They will employ intensive, bottom-up fundamental research to drive the investment process, which will help form differentiated views and allow the Analyst to communicate their findings to the Value portfolio manager. They must exhibit the ability to incorporate top-down perspectives such as sector and macro views.  The Analyst will use a disciplined and detailed approach within the context of the overall portfolio philosophy and process.

•    RESEARCH HORSEPOWER AND ANALYTICAL RIGOR – The Analyst will demonstrate exceptional analytical capabilities and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to conduct deep, high-velocity research at pace. Strong financial analysis skills and a robust fundamental toolkit are essential. The Analyst will exhibit a willingness to “dig in” to complex problems and develop insights through independent work and critical thinking.

•    SUPERIOR COLLABORATION AND INFLUENCING SKILLS – The Analyst will be expected to be an individual contributor within a highly collaborative team. They will build strong, trusting relationships internally with colleagues and externally with company management teams. The ability to take risk and challenge investment views is critical, as is the humility to admit mistakes and a desire to learn from others; they must recognize the benefits of diverse perspectives.  The ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) action-oriented opinions clearly and with conviction and contribute to an open investment dialogue is important.

•    DRIVE, GRIT, AND ACHIEVEMENT ORIENTATION – A proven track record of high achievement across academic, professional, and extracurricular pursuits. The Analyst will demonstrate drive, resilience and a commitment to excellence in all endeavors.

•    GROWTH MINDSET – The flexibility and openness to continue learning, evolving and growing as an investor is required.
