EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

As an Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in the execution and success of construction projects. Operating heavy machinery and equipment, your primary responsibility will be to ensure efficient and safe operation to facilitate the completion of various tasks on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely operate equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, forklifts, and cranes according to project needs.
  • Precision Work: Perform tasks with precision, such as grading, digging, and loading materials.
  • Site Preparation: Assist in site preparation activities including clearing, grading, and excavation to ensure a stable foundation for construction activities.
  • Material Handling: Transport and handle construction materials, supplies, and equipment to designated locations on-site as required.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery to ensure optimal functionality and safe operation.
  • Report Defects: Identify and report any mechanical issues or defects to maintenance personnel.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others on the construction site.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use appropriate PPE, such as helmets, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Hazard Identification: Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the work area.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with construction team members, including supervisors, laborers, and other operators, to coordinate tasks and ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and delays.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including equipment usage, materials transported, and hours worked.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new equipment technologies and operational techniques.
  • Attend Training: Participate in training sessions and certifications as required.

Qualifications 

  • Experience: Proven experience operating heavy machinery in a construction or similar setting.
  • Certification: Valid operator's license or certification for relevant equipment (e.g., crane operator certification, forklift license).
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision and careful attention to detail to operate machinery safely and effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills to follow instructions and coordinate with team members.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues independently.
  • Environment: Work is primarily outdoors on construction sites, involving exposure to loud noises, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Hours: Typically full-time, with overtime and weekend work commonly based on project deadlines and requirements.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Professional Engineer license in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas is not required but preferred

This is a safety sensitive position, and all applicable policies including drug test and background check will apply.

  • The inherent responsibilities of your role may include physical working conditions. In order to safely and successfully perform job duties you must be able to:  
    • Potentially lift up to 50 pounds 
    • Potentially need to do repeated pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching (or working above shoulder), walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing  
    • Potentially operate a motor vehicle, crane, tractor, etc.
