We are currently looking to hire a seasonal Experienced Ambulatory Equine Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Mark T. Ketner DVM and Associates in Colts Neck, New Jersey!
Location: Colts Neck, NJ (Ambulatory – serving Monmouth County)
Salary: Competitive hourly pay, based on experience
Schedule: Seasonal position with highest need March through October with possibility of less hours in the off-season. 2-4 weekdays a week, 20-30 hours a week during busy season.
Who We Are:
Mark T. Ketner DVM and Associates is an ambulatory equine practice providing on-farm veterinary care to horses throughout the region. We focus on progressive medicine, strong client relationships, and practical, compassionate care in the field.
As a mobile practice, we bring advanced diagnostics and hands-on expertise directly to our patients — from preventative care and lameness evaluations to reproductive services and emergency response.
Who You Are:
• 1+ year of equine veterinary assistant or equine handling experience required. Pre-veterinary and veterinary students welcome to apply. • Confident with safe equine handling and restraint
• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Able to safely walk and trot horses on a lead rope, and ideally able to lunge
• Able to assist with procedures, treatments, and emergency calls in the field • Experience preparing equipment, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean, efficient mobile unit • Strong work ethic and ability to stay calm under pressure • Self-motivated, dependable, punctual, and prepared
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Excellent communication skills with clients and team members • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
