Major Duties:

  • As an Equal Opportunity Investigator, GS-13 you will perform the following duties: Utilizes a variety of investigative techniques such as interviews or fact-finding conferences, and a variety of instruments such as requests for information, position statements, exchange of letters or memoranda, interrogatories, and affidavits to investigate alleged violations of Federal equal employment opportunity laws; Requests documentary evidence and interview witnesses and responsible management officials (RMOs) to obtain their testimony about the claims; Prepares affidavits tailored to the appropriate model of proof for review and signature by these witnesses and RMOs; AND Uses evidence obtained during the investigation to write and organize the Report of Investigation (ROI), as well as to prepare an investigative summary which summarizes the ROI.

You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Identifies and frames claims of discrimination, such as preparing acceptance of claim and procedural dismissal notices. Conducts legal research on equal employment opportunity matters using EEOC Management Directive 110, 29 C.F.R. § 1614, et seq., and EEOC precedential decisions. Identifies relevant evidence and witnesses, and using interviews, affidavits, and declarations to obtain testimony. Prepares written reports with factual summaries for use by decisionmakers. Other Special Requirements: This position requires successful completion of an EEO Investigator training program consisting of a minimum of thirty-two (32) hours of training prior to onboarding or within the first 90 days of hiring. Additionally, this position requires successful maintenance and completion of at least eight (8) hours of continuing EEO Investigator training which must be completed before the end of each fiscal year, as required by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in's Management Directive 110, Chapter 6, Section II. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
